I have heard somewhere that if you take a test out of it's plastic this is considered a negative result even if there are two lines is this true?

If you mean that you've taken the test out of the plastic casing then yes you can't trust the result. It could be evaporation lines.
If its positive it'll show up positive without the need to take it apart.
Sorry if this isn't the answer you were hoping for.

destinyskyexx · 16/10/2018 09:15

It was positive and then I took it out of the plastic to see the result properly

If it was positive before you took it out then it would have been right.
Sorry am confused as to why you took it out the plastic at all then? The result should have been clear enough to see without taking it out. If not I'd say test again in a couple of days.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/10/2018 09:36

Sorry didn't mean that to sound blunt!

destinyskyexx · 16/10/2018 09:37

No it's okay tbh I'm not sure why either just decided to lol

Taking it out of the plastic doesn’t negate an already positive result, how could it? Why did you take it out of the plastic if it was positive?

destinyskyexx · 16/10/2018 09:45

As I said above I don't know

A positive test is still positive without the plastic surrounding it.

The "taking it out the plastic makes the result invalid" is a long misconstrued myth bandied about on many forums.

destinyskyexx · 16/10/2018 09:51

Ohh okay thankyou are you sure?

Yes. If it's a genuinely positive test then it stays positive even when it's out the test.

One the other hand, most tests will show up random lines when they aren't truly positive. They are shit tests whether they are in or out the plastic.
Basically whether it's BFP, BFN or a crappy dodgy test then they all remain that way even when they are broken out the plastic.

I've had this exact problem. Aine but I'm not sure it's accurate. I don't know how to upload photos on here so can't even ask.

SoyDora · 16/10/2018 10:08

Yes I can see it now, we posted at the same time.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/10/2018 10:13

Yes I was referring to if it was only appearing positive once its out of the plastic - IMO you can't trust that result. But as you say it was positive before you took it apart, then its a positive. So if thats the case congratulations :-)

destinyskyexx · 16/10/2018 10:28

Yeah it was definitely positive before I took it out of the plastic and yeah me too I would have added a photo but it wouldn't let me
