NIPT test privately London

Who has had this privately?

I self referred to NHS today and they were very vague about whether they can fit me in on week 12 (I can't have scan later as away travelling for a month)

I contacted a private company and inquired about Harmony test after reading it here. I think I'd rather just have my 12 week scan + tests privately just for piece of mind with dates etc. I don't know if UCLH even does the NIPT test? I literally found out what it was just now. I read it was offered under NHS now but not sure where.

Has anyone had this done privately? if so, anywhere that is reputable but not £500+?

thanks!

Have a look at the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley Street. The guy who runs it is pretty much the top fetal medicine bod in the country (does work for NHS too) and they run as a not for profit. I think they do a package in week 10 where they do a scan, then harmony and a full 12 week scan too for £400.

www.fetalmedicine.com/

If the Harmony comes back high risk they will also perform an amnio at no extra cost.

NIPT is not yet offered NHS wide, only a few hospitals are performing the test for trail reasons.

You'll most likely need to go private and it does cost roughly £500. You'll be able to search on the internet for Harmony tests near you. Xx

I had mine privately btw.. was really happy with the service. A thorough scan and blood work - results 7 days later.

I had mine done at the Rosie in addenbrookes Cambridge

I had one done at the FMC, the same package Sunshinegirl mentioned. I had it done there with my last pregnancy too and found it an extremely professional and pleasantly conducted experience.

Thanks all. I did look at that package for £400 but thought what's the point of having harmony and then nuchal a couple of weeks later? Why not just harmony and scan?

I also used the FMC. They were great. Lovely staff and top equipment.

I went to the London Ultrasound Centre- the consultant is also head of obstetrics UCLH so you know you’re in good hands. I’ve also heard good things about FMC though.

Sunshinegirl82 · 15/10/2018 20:41

I don't think they do the nuchal screening (ie nuchal fold measurement and bloods) just the 12 week scan to date pregnancy and measurement of nuchal fold (a high nuchal fold measurement can indicate a chromosome issue and harmony only tests for the three main trisomies, as does the NHS screening). I think they also look for soft markers, nasal bone etc.

thanks @Sunshinegirl82 I've booked in for the £400 package. Seems most sensible. I can't believe the NHS book you in for 12-14wk scan and then if you are high risk you have to get the NIPT done anyway. Not a very big window for it. You'd end up at 16+ weeks by the time you know for sure!

How does anyone get through these 10 weeks without a beta test to confirm baby is growing? It's the worst! I just keep touching my boobs to check they're still hurting lol. It's a long wait.

I had the panorama test at the birth company. It’s a bit more expensive at £500 but I wanted to do the test before we went on holiday and it can be performed earlier than the Harmony test. When I had my 12 week scan on the NHS, they didn’t bother doing nuchal screening when they found out the panorama came back low risk. Told me that I’d already had the superior test so no point and did a more detailed anomaly scan instead. I think the NHS will be rolling out NIPT later this year but I hear it’s only for women at higher risk. Good luck with you me test, hoping for a good result for you. X

@Tigerlily99 hello! so nice to see you again. We were together on the IVF thread(s) back in July-Aug. And cycled at the same time! I got pregnant naturally, my second cycle after... looks like the IVF drugs actually made my Endometriosis sleep and allowed me to conceive. I am so annoyed that I wasn't offered to down regulate years ago to treat the endo cells! So happy you're doing well. :) Wishing you all the best with everything xx
