Hi everyone,

Never been on here before so all new to me but I'm a bit confused.

Basically for a few years I've been on cerazette, no periods for a while, no missed pills etc. Then about a month ago had a small bleed, few headaches and vision changes bit of heartburn. So got one negative pregnancy test and thought nothing of it. Then last week my nipples became really painful. Did 2 Sainsbury's tests last night and both had very faint thin positive lines. Wasn't sure whether to believe it so did a Morrisons one this morning, another faint line. So bought a clear blue and an early response both negative. However when I rung the doctor she just said 'if there was no hormone present there wouldn't be a line so congratulations!'.. a bit taken aback and don't know whether to believe it.

Anyone else had any experiences like this? Sorry for the long winded message!

Thanks

If a woman is pregnant, the amount of hCG in her system should be around 25 mIU at 10 dpo (days past ovulation), 50 mIU at 12 dpo, 100 mIU at around two weeks dpo. On average a woman's HCG levels double every 30 hours. Non-pregnant women have HCG levels of 5.

Some pregnancy tests are more sensitive than others. Some will turn positive at 25mIU some at 50mIU and a few not until 100mIU.

False positives are rare.

Congratulations!!

Did you say you got a negative FRER? Have you got pictures of the tests?

I'd tend to trust the FRER, to be honest. They have the highest sensitivity of any test on the market and don't give evaporation lines, generally. Cheap, own-brand blue dye tests often produce evap lines that look a lot like positives.

Thankyou!

I just expected the more expensive ones to be more sensitive. Just daren't get too excited until I get consistent positives. I'm in disbelief haha

Yeah negative on the first response. Guess ill just wait a few more days and see what happens. The strongest line was on a pink dye own brand one no idea if that makes a difference or not?
