8 weeks period like cramps and blood

I'm 8 weeks today and last night I had some cramping and saw some skin like stuff in the loo ( which I remember happening in my first two years ago)
Today I've had more cramping like a period about to start and what looked like about a dessert spoon blob of blood in the loo . On the tissue it was a mix of red and a brownish colour.
This would also be the week of my period .
I just can't remember if it's normal or not.
At booking in last week the MW asked about any spotting and pain but there had not been any then.
I've called her a few times today from work but no answer and there is not an option to leave a message it just rings out ... Not sure what I should do .. my common sense is telling me it's normal.. but what do I know?

I would ring your local pregnancy unit and see if they can advise x

Early pregnancy unit that should be!

I would assume it’s a miscarriage I’m sorry. Ring your early pregnancy unit and they can arrange a scan for you to see what’s happening.

Ok listen relax... don't panic. People are quick to jump to the conclusion that it's a miscarriage which I feel is a bit insensitive.

Yes there is a chance of miscarriage but it may well be nothing too. I had a bleed at 8 weeks and my baby was fine.

I was told recently that you can bleed when the placenta attaches at around this time also.

I would suggest calling your midwife, trying to stay as calm as possible and see if you can get a scan to assess your baby.

Good luck

Not trying to be insensitive - I really hope I’m wrong.
This is how my miscarriage started though.
Fingers crossed you have a happier outcome.

You need a GP appointment first thing in the morning, they can refer you to the Early Pregnancy Unit and get you a scan hopefully the same day. It's terrifying, I know, but I had a huge haemorrhage at 13 weeks and my little girl was absolutely fine. Offering a handhold

Thank you everyone, I've had a nightmare. Couldn't get through to CMW at all tried GP they didn't want to know said no emergency appointments left. My partner rang back and made them see me . I was referred to surgical Assesment got here about 6.25pm been left to wait until about an hour ago. Seen doctor, by now I'm gushing blood and terrible contracting pains. Been given codeine got to stay in incase it's eptopic , having a scan in the morning. I'm just numb apart from being in agony at same time
