Pregnant on Doxycycline

Hello,
I am 5 weeks pregnant today and I am over the moon. The baby wasn't expected and I started taking doxycycline two weeks ago for 7 days. GP said that I will have to wait for the 12 weeks scan to make sure the baby is fine and I am now extremely worried. Doxycycline is a very strong antibiotic that is not advised during pregnancy and relate to bone development issues. Anyone here took this antibiotic during early pregnancy and yet had a healthy baby? Thank you so much :)

I was on doxycycline before I found out I was pregnant. I was referred to the consultant and she assured me it would have no effect as I hadn’t taken it in the 2nd trimester onwards. DD, although prem is absolutely fine!

My GP had a very similar reaction to yours- stop it and we will see how the pregnancy goes. The consultant was much more blasé and reassuring that no harm had been done. 😊
