The midwifes dating wheel

I distinctly remember working out my dates 20 years ago ( no google) and the midwife giving me a date one day before in her wheel.
This time around I used online tools and got the 28th going by my last period.. but the midwifes wheel said the 27th .. why is there a difference ?

A difference of one day?

Because it's not an exact science. Depending on when you ovulated you could be out by a week.

My friend and I both pregnant at minute and were talking about this. Say our weeks change every Sunday the midwife wheel was giving our due date as being on a Saturday...strange! Mine has now changed with dating scan so completely different now but ties in exactly with ovulation now!

My midwife tells me a different gestation from her wheel every time I see her.
I just stick with the official scan date.
I saw her last week at 27+6 and she said I was 28+2.

@Angelmiracle @SoyDora not just me then 😃

@danceintime i had exactly the same thing, at booking in MW said of your 8+1 and I was certain I was 8, they did it last time I was pregnant. I ignore it, they're human, they make mistakes or their wheel is wrong! It doesn't really matter anyway, maybe if it was a week but a day doesn't really matter!

It’s a very rudimentary way of calculating and I think assumes everyone has a 28 day cycle.

Better to rely on the dating scans now.

Gp did the same I had worked out (Googled) one date and he said a day earlier. You’d think in this day and age they’d just use an app!

The thing is, this is after the dating scan has given a a due date. So for example the midwife says to me ‘what’s your due date’ and I tell her, so she uses the wheel to calculate how far pregnant I am. I had an appointment at 24+6 based on the due date and she said I was 24+4 based on the wheel. Exactly 3 weeks (21 days) later, at 27+6, I was asked my due date again told I was 28+2 based on the wheel. It doesn’t bother me at all, it’s my third baby and I know they come when they come, it’s just a bit baffling!
