Infant observation: A family expecting a baby needed!
I am a student/trainee of ‘Working with children, young people & families: a psychoanalytic observational approach’ course organized by The Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust. I am looking for a family expecting a baby who would be willing to take part in infant observation that is a crucial part of the training. The meetings would take place in any place convenient for a family (usually families prefer to meet at their houses) for one hour once a week for 2 years. The purpose of infant observation is to help students/trainees to understand early development stages of the infant, which is crucial in the later work as a child psychotherapist. The observation has purely learning purpose and does not aim to judge anyone’s parental skills or giving advice to parents.
I have had an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Check and a letter from the Tavistock confirming that I am a student at the Tavistock Clinic (see attached). The course administrator will also be available to answer any questions that parents might have.
If a parent/parents do agree then the observation is carried out on the basis of careful confidentiality. If you think you might be interested, you know somebody who might be interested in or would like to find out more, please contact me [email protected] to find out more. Your help will be much appreciated and will help me to finish the training!
Yours sincerely
