Shooting when pregnant

Hello,

I occasionally go shooting and wondered if it's ok to shoot while pregnant? Any thoughts? Would the loud bangs effect the development of my baby's hearing? Everyone keeps telling me it will be fine but just thought I'd throw this one out there for you lovely ladies xxx

I think you'd find more qualified answers on countryside capers. Good luck!

I can't see how it could do any harm, really. A healthy pregnancy is extremely robust to everyday activities and lots of foetuses will have been exposed to very loud noises.

It's a bit late to think about that, Pippa! Grin

Thanks but we haven't told everyone that I'm pregnant yet and asking on there would seriously let the cat out of the bag!! lol xxx

It's fine. Imagine being underwater with ear defenders on. That's how it is for baby. I shot whilst pregnant, very obviously so and no one batted an eyelid.

The advice we give is to avoid if possible noise above 130 bBA after 24 weeks of pregnancy as this is when baby is able to hear noises and excessively loud noises can cause a stress response. Not sure the noise level of a shooting range but 130 dBA is quite loud.

You’ll be fine, assuming you aren’t intending on licking the ammo.

Thanks Ladies very reassuring!! @GemmeFatale definitely not intending on licking the ammo lol actually laughed out loud at that!!
