When did you go in to labour with your first?

And when I say go in to labour, I don't just mean naturally without intervention. Induction and c section stories also greatly appreciated as this may be my only option! Smile

Just curious as I'm 37 weeks on Monday and counting down the days...

36 weeks very quick labour gave birth in an ambulance

MovingtoLondonAgain · 13/10/2018 12:17

Five days after the due date I was given.

Woke up about 5am with mild contractions. They disappeared after a few hours. Then back with a vengeance around 5pm, off to hospital with DD born at about 22:30hrs. X

RedFin · 13/10/2018 12:19

39+4/39+5
Labour began overnight. Baby born about 12 hours after contractions changed from maybe being Braxton Hicks to definitely being the real deal

DramaAlpaca · 13/10/2018 12:20

At 39+2.

Goostacean · 13/10/2018 12:20

41+4, the day before my booked induction. I made a point of assuming I’d get to 42 weeks, so I wasn’t too disappointed/frustrated when I missed my due date!

thismeansnothing · 13/10/2018 12:23

Naturally at 42+3

I was later put on a drop to speed things up. Then got a crash section.

thismeansnothing · 13/10/2018 12:23

On a drip

fifithefoof · 13/10/2018 12:24

42 plus 3 too.

Quick birth at home.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 13/10/2018 12:24

Early hours 40+2 - born 40+3

TreMonet · 13/10/2018 12:27

Mostly looking like towards 40 weeks is the norm then!

@thismeansnothing did you cope okay with the crash section? Definitely one of my fears...

2 days before due date.

Got up to go to the loo about 2am. And there was blood on the toilet paper.

Mild aching throughout the night.

Went to hospital about 7am to be told I wasn't properly in labour yet.

Labour started properly about 9am and ds1 was born at midday.

MrsBartlettforthewin · 13/10/2018 12:35

42 weeks through induction. DD was not budging any other way. But once my contractions started it took less than six hours for her to get here.

thismeansnothing · 13/10/2018 12:36

@TreMonet physically inwas fine yes.

At the time everyone thought i was ok cos I was cracking on with a brave face to the world. And after all as long as DD was fine that's all that mattered. But I was devastated and didn't find those comments helpful even if they were well meant.

Even now nearly 7 years later it breaks my heart that I was asleep when DD was born, DH missed the birth too as he wasn't allowed in theatre as it was a general anaesthetic and that I generally missed all those special first moments. Didn't hear her cry as she was dragged out, no intial skin to skin etc. I still get flashbacks and basically some of the symptoms of what could be described as PTSD now. There was no emotional help or support afterwards.

Im Due to have DC2 early next year. Thankfully I'm having an elcs but I'm terrified cos I don't know what to expect having missed what happened at the first one

Angelmiracle · 13/10/2018 12:38

41 weeks

babysharkdoodoodoodoodoodoo · 13/10/2018 12:40

Contractions started at 39+2, had an awful slow and painful labour, at 39+6 I got induced, finally got to 10cm and started pushing when they realised he was stuck so had an emcs. I knew exactly when I ovulated and conceived so going by them dates rather than the dating scan I would have been 38+6 when contractions started and 39+3 when he was born x

NoParticularPattern · 13/10/2018 12:43

40+12 after induction started at 40+11. Pessary went in at 11am and DD was born just before 4am the following morning. Everything progressed very normally despite having to be jump started!

gingertom11 · 13/10/2018 12:45

Naturally at 37+6. Took me totally by surprise, went to sleep around 11pm with no signs and woke up at 2am with contractions, got to Midwife Unit at around 4:30am and was 6cm dilated and DS was born in water at 8:56am weighing 8lb12.5oz! He'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow Grin.

HoneyWheeler · 13/10/2018 12:52

40+12 and I was induced - had my waters broken and contractions started but very irregular. Ended up on syntocinon and eventually with an emergency section. But the staff were amazing and I was so well cared for that I feel like I had a really positive experience

Cbeebiesrehab · 13/10/2018 13:14

Bang on 40 weeks-no induction or sweep or anything. Hospital didn’t believe me as it was my first and ‘no one has their baby on their due date’
Begged to go in after 19 hours-5cm dialled

Cbeebiesrehab · 13/10/2018 13:15

Dilated*

Blondie1993 · 13/10/2018 13:27

Naturally, 12 days before due date. Started around 10 pm, went to hospital about 7 am then DS was born at 14:14. Pain wasn’t too bad until the last the couple of hours.

Hooli · 13/10/2018 16:02

39+6. Day before planned induction. Mild niggles all night, slept through early labour. Woke at 5am with contractions coming every 3 minutes. Arrived at MLU already 7cm. Born 2 hours later.

Babyshark2018 · 13/10/2018 16:06

Went into labour 2 days before my due date, then she was born a day after my due date because she kept me waiting! I was really annoyed because she was literally 3 hours off from due date haha.

Labour started naturally but did end up going on the drip because it didn’t progress.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 13/10/2018 16:13

32+2 - waters just went! Labour was 3 hours in total.

Baby number 2 due, currently I'm 30 weeks so I'm planning for if the same thing happens all over again!!

annlee3817 · 13/10/2018 23:16

At 40+5 although it was on the due date that I calculated which I knew to be more accurate than theirs as they had me conceiving four days before we DTD. Quick labour at just over five hours from start to finish
