When did you go in to labour with your first?

And when I say go in to labour, I don't just mean naturally without intervention. Induction and c section stories also greatly appreciated as this may be my only option! Smile

Just curious as I'm 37 weeks on Monday and counting down the days...

40+7, I was very impatient the whole time.

StarfishSandwich · 14/10/2018 02:39

Waters broke 40+6, regular contractions started a couple of hours later at bang on 41 weeks, he was actually finally born at 41+1. It was a long old slog of back to back labour unfortunately. Officially I was in ‘established labour’ (from 4cm) for 17 hours but my god it felt like much longer.

bumblebee39 · 14/10/2018 04:03

Waters went in mothercare on my due date, she was born 5 days later

loveskaka · 14/10/2018 04:17

33.3 weeks prematurely. 4 weeks in hospital. X

ChristmasArmadillo · 14/10/2018 04:40

42+, woke up with a back pain, baby popped out about two hours later. I was mentally prepared for being precipitous though so it all went well!

Gizzymum · 14/10/2018 05:04

38+5 with both. First was 1.15am and DS1 born at 3.07am. Second was 4.20pm ish and DS2 born 18 mins later. No induction.

Cheeseandapple · 14/10/2018 05:35

Labour started 40+3, DD born 41 weeks. 4 days of early labour at home.

n0ne · 14/10/2018 06:33

39+1 naturally

Mama2017 · 14/10/2018 08:35

Both my kids came at 37+3 and both times my waters went last minute as I was pushing.

With first I started with period like cramps at midnight then bloody show at 7.30am, called hospital and they said not to bother coming in as first baby and waters hadn't gone, got to hospital at 12.10pm and DS1 was born at 12.31pm.

With second I had cramps from about 9am but nothing regular or intense, bloody show at 4pm, mild contractions started regularly but they were manageable, called hospital at 11pm and they were fully booked diverting to further away so called the next closest hospital and they said to come in, got there 11.30pm and DS2 was born 0.04am.

38 +3
She timed it well, fully baked, a nice size (6lbs 13oz) and I'd had 10 days of mat leave already which was plenty.

catshart · 14/10/2018 09:26

Had to be induced at 42 weeks with my first, not a pleasant experience!
Only went 1 day overdue with next child and was no where near as painful as an induction

Lynne1Cat · 14/10/2018 09:46

I was 36 weeks, had a 13hr labour.

2nd one was 40 weeks, 6 hr labour

missmouse101 · 14/10/2018 09:50

Day after the due date. 6.5 hours in established labour. Please look into taking raspberry leaf extract OP, it helps so much!

Seniorschoolmum · 14/10/2018 09:59

41+1 for initial pains. Slow labour took 42 hours so he was born 41+3

I had ds at 45 so was older mum and we tend to have longer first labour.

Very envious of people giving birth on 3 hours.

tinstar · 14/10/2018 19:01

Very envious of people giving birth on 3 hours.

Ds3 took 70 minutes. Fortunately I was already in hospital. 1 oz shy of 12 lbs

BurtTyrannosaurusMacklin · 14/10/2018 19:04

Waters broke at 38+4, as I was scheduled for elective section 2 days later that was moved forward and it never progressed to labour (never even had a single contraction!)

grace7 · 14/10/2018 20:05

40+7, baby was born about six hours later!

mostdays · 14/10/2018 20:10

42+15, close to 3am on the antenatal ward having had a pessary inserted for induction around lunchtime the day before. It was a very sudden start- waters broke, big contraction started, three minutes later there was another one... ds1 was born just 2.5 hours later.

coffeekittens · 14/10/2018 20:13

41 weeks exactly, was due to have my first sweep that day and was more afraid of that than giving birth, I’m so glad that I avoided that 🤣

Skylucy · 14/10/2018 20:15

40+6, in the evening. Gave birth at 6pm the next day, 41 weeks.

sanityisamyth · 14/10/2018 20:26

He was born on 39+3 but was in labour for 80 hours prior to this. Contractions started 11pm 24th December (yes, Christmas Eve) and he was born at 7am on 28th December.

mintich · 14/10/2018 20:29

Induced at 41+5, pessaryvand prostin didn't work eventually had waters broken at 42 weeks, and put on drip, gave birth the next day but needed forceps delivery in theatre.
Had a planned c section with my second!

harper30 · 14/10/2018 20:49

40+6 naturally

Dlah · 15/10/2018 15:47

Was 40+4, had a massive meltdown over a cup of tea my partner made me - like full on hysteria because it tasted so crap! GrinTo cheer me up he took me out for dinner later that day, I broke down in the car sobbing "I can't do it anymore, I want her out" . . Managed to calm down, walked into pub, sat down 'boom'! Contractions started lol

However, although I went naturally, I stopped progressing and ending up delivering 24 hours later by forceps

HerSymphonyAndSong · 15/10/2018 16:21

Dlah I had similar tearfulness the day before I went into labour
