Flu jab and feeling sorry for myself 😭

I feel so pathetic but I'm really feeling sorry for myself. I'm 17+3 and had the flu jab 2 days ago.

It's now been more than 48 hours and the injection site is swollen, red, sore and itchy, and I've had mad fatigue all day as bad as I had in the first trimester.

No fever or anything serious like that, but I feel really miserable. It feels like I've been punched in the arm and also bitten by a fucker of a mosquito. Gah!

Did anyone else react like this? If so, how long until you felt better?

Not quite the same! I went to school (I'm a teacher) and threw up! Then went home and slept for hours!!

I'm not pregnant at the moment but had the same reaction on my arm. I've been getting my jab for years and never had that happen before... must be something to do with this year's strain.

Rest up and take care of yourself and that little bundle you're growing. It'll pass in a couple of days.

I've been fine with the flu jab but the whooping cough jab at 20 weeks did this to me!

sirmione16 · 12/10/2018 21:04

Had the whooping cough and the flu jab the other day (am 25 weeks) and these symptoms were ones the nurse warned me about, so sounds normal to me however do get it checked out if not sure

Im 23 weeks and I had mine yesterday and my arm is hurting. It not hurting as much as it did with the whooping cough jab. That was very painful. Try putting an ice pack on the area that soothed it for me bit. I do feel very tired today, I'm not sure if it is the vaccine or I'm just getting exhausted again. I've taken some paracetamol and got in to bed to have an early night.

I had the flu jab on Monday, for the last couple of days I've been very tired and achy. Starting to feel better now! Comforting myself that if my body's immune response to the vaccine makes me feel rough the actual flu would be 100 times worse so it's worth it! Paracetamol, ice pack and rest are the way forward I think!

Must be the strain this year. I have the flu jab each year and never react, this year got it due to pregnancy and it's swollen, red, and itchy.

I had mine on Thursday a couple of weeks ago and it didn't stop hurting til Sunday. It felt like a particularly vicious jab with a lot of fluid!

SkippedALightFandango · 13/10/2018 12:54

I had mine on Monday. I had it for work not because of pregnancy. No fatigue but large hot red/purple swelling and Very itchy. The swelling and heat Started to settle down yesterday (Friday) but still quite itchy.

Kescilly · 13/10/2018 12:56

I had mine before getting pregnant and it was the least reaction I’ve ever had. Wasn’t even sore this year!

If anyone is yet to get it, try to relax your arm beforehand.
