Being induced... any advice or positive stories?

Hi all!

I’m being induced on Sunday but hoping and praying that my little girl decides to make an appearance before then. I’ve heard so many horror stories about being induced and I really don’t want an epidural or a c-section Sad . Has anyone got any advice on how to cope with being induced or any positive happy stories Smile x

I think if you are later in pregnancy then they tend to be better! I honestly think a lot of the horror stories (including my own) are when people are induced early for medical reasons! Induction at 34 weeks is not the one!

I’m guessing as you are hoping baby arrives soon you are over 40 weeks?

Hi, I was induced with DD when I was 10 days past my due date.

Didn't need the drip, I didn't even need to have my waters broken. One pessary did the trick for me. Despite the fact the midwives told me my cervix was 'unfavourable' and as it was my first baby it was likely going to be a 'long process' for me. I waited about for a while for things to happen, but when the contractions started it went from 0-60 in no time at all. I was only in established labour for roughly 3 hours. Natural birth, no assistance, just gas and air. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I was induced at 37 weeks, straight on the drip as my waters had gone, baby born 4 hours later, just on gas and air. The last 20-30 min were a bit intense but she came out after only one push.
I was worried before it all started too but it’s ok, the midwives take care of you and if you are on the drip it starts very gently and they increase it only when you are ready and very carefully (like a bit every half an hour or so). Good luck, don’t worry!! Xxx

Thank you everyone for your replies! They’re all much appreciated Smile
I’m 40 weeks now (as of midnight), and I think little lady must have heard me because my waters broke an hour and a half after my post and I’m currently In Labour Shock

Here I go Hmm x

Yahoo! Well done OP. I was coming here to share my positive induction story, but glad to hear that you don't need it after all. Good luck!!
