I'm struggling to come to terms with not having any money for myself on maternity leave. I usually like to have money for myself and buy bits for the house and baby but maternity pay isn't going to quite cut it if it's going towards the mortgage. Is there anything anyone could recommend that I can do to earn money or otherwise may have to return back to work earlier than anticipated

Loads of women have this issue.

You just have to rein in your spending while working and save some of your earnings. Then if you cannot afford the entire year off then you have to go back early.

Mortgage providers can provide a mortgage holiday but if you take that you are just adding on extra interest and your mortgage will take longer to pay off.

Pregnancy isn't the time to take on extra work as you will have periods where you are utterly exhausted, sick, ill or a mixture of any of them.
