Baby engaged but not pushing on cervix?

Hi everyone

So I’m 40+4 today and went for my first membrane sweep. The midwife was able to reach and complete the sweep. She said my cervix is soft and that I’m about 2cm dilated. She also said that the baby’s head is not fully pushing on the cervix and is lying more towards one side. She did feel the baby’s head no problem though and said I’m engaged. Has anyone heard this before? I’ve tried to google it but can’t find anything.

She’s advised me to bounce on my exercise ball and climb up the stairs sideways to get her to shift her head a bit. That should trigger regular contractions rather than the irregular ones I’ve been getting.

I’m basically looking to see if anyone has experienced this before? Were you successful in moving the baby’s head? If so what did you do?

The midwife has made an induction appointment for the 19th when I’ll be 40+12 with another sweep appointment for the day before so I know the end is in sight but want to be proactive and try to avoid this if possible!

I'd say what you've described is normal, honestly go for long walks and and try having sex if possible, embarrassing I know but it really can help move things along, if you're displaying already then your body is ready but just needs some extra encouragement. Be as active as you can xx

My baby didn’t press on my cervix enough (big head and badly positioned). I went into labour but failed to dilate because of the above, so had a c-section.
