Harmony test for twins

Hi all

I'm in such a quandry, we are considering the harmony test, currently 9 weeks pregnant with twins. One thing putting me off is that if a test came back as positive it would not be able to establish which twin, or whether it was both of them, that tested positive.

My instinct at the moment is to just wait for the 12 week nucal scan and then go from there.

Has anyone else been in this position and if so what did you decide?

Many thanks

Hi Sproodlemummy, at last, someone else expecting twins! Congratulations, hope you are coping with the mental adjustment! I'm 17 weeks now and had the Harmony test done at 10weeks. I knew that if any issues arose we would have to have further testing through a cvs but I needed to know. I lost a baby girl 3 years ago at 32 weeks - she was diagnosed with triploidy at the 20 week scan. We had an aminocinthesis after that and it really wasn't that bad. It's far, far worse to find out at 20 weeks something that could have been picked up 10 weeks earlier. Good luck making your decision!

Hi @countrychick26
Sorry it's taken me a little while to message you back. I'm really sorry to hear about your previous pregnancy, that must have been an awful time for you. To be honest what you said has made us re-think and go for the harmony test, as like you say it's better to know early on that something isn't right than find out much later.

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy though. We were in total shock, even though it was an IVF pregnancy and we'd had 2 embryo's put back, we've had so many failures that we just never even contemplated it working, never mind them both implanting. My DH is in denial lol. What are you doing to prepare? Are you buying anything yet or waiting a little longer? We've said we're not buying anything until after our 20 week scan which is at Christmas.

I'm so paranoid at the moment though, I'm 10 weeks on thursday and managed to get into my regular jeans this morning. They are stretchy and a bit snug but then I started panicking. It's so hard not knowing what is going on in there. Even though we've seen the heartbeats twice I've still got an overwhelming feeling that everything is going to come crashing down around us.

xxxx

We didn’t have it as had the regular screening and that came back low risk. I’m not sure what we would have done if it had come back as high, probably straight to an amino.
