..this is for my sis not me. she is15 wks preg and the gp says she has 'labarinythineitis' (SP) which is an inner ear thing causing dizzyness and headaches. she also had protein and blood in her urine and high bp. they have sent off sample to lab..all this suggests pre-eclampsia to me, she says the gp never mentioned that. i dont want to worry her but i think the inner ear thing might be rubbish - she has no ear pain- but rather some sor tof cerabal thing. any advice? thanks. shes off work today but wants to go in tomorrow - she has stressy job and big commute. chill, woman i say!

hiya

one of my friends has just had her baby and was suffering from pre eclampsia - all the symptoms sound the same (except the inner ear thing). It can be pretty hardcore. Your sis has to take it easy and rest. One of the hardest things I found about pregnancy was learning to go easy. I found life a lot easier once i learnt to listen to my body.

I would advise that your sis takes it easy today and tomorrow. Can she not work from home? (although that too isnt ideal if what she needs is rest - but would remove the element of stress from her commute)

Sounds like pre-eclampsia to me (apart from the ear thing - think that is unrelated). I got it later on in my last pregnancy, and stress (of a horrendous house move in my case) played no small part.
It isn't worth taking risks. She should take the day off and rest IMO.

yep. not sure how to broach this with her without annoying her/seeming interfering (and i am a counsellor fgs) she and her dp are also in process of buying house its all nuts for them. i htink she needs to put work way further down the list of things to stress about - shes planning to take at least 2 years out anyway - but she is finding it hard to get her head round not being a working woman. which is understandable, but she is just mega stressed and something needs to give, should be the work stuff imo. shes my baby sis , want to support her. and shses 2 hrs away.

Can she go to maternity hospital to see a consultant there. This is definetly the signs of eclampsia and she must get it checked out

I'm surprised that they haven't admitted her for monitoring, even if only as a day patient. My mw and gp flew into a complete panic at the slightest hint of pre-eclampsia.
