What week gestation should you start monitoring baby movements?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, my placenta is at the front.
I feel baby kick most evenings when I'm lying down and he has a good wriggle which is lovely.
Every few days thought I hardly feel anything and it gets me really worried.
Last night I didn't feel anything apart from a tiny little kick when I'd settled for bed.

What week should I see a definite pattern and when should I alert the midwife if I don't feel anything?

If you’re worried about reduced movements, call the EPU anytime. They will always be happy to monitor you. It’s hard to feel movements with a placenta at the front. If baby is quiet, try lying on your left side for a couple of hours, drinking a cold or fizzy drink.

The EPU won’t take you after 12 weeks. Have a look on your notes you should have a number on them for your maternity unit. Call them and speak to them, they’ll most likely tell you to go in for monitoring.

I was told to start monitoring at 24 weeks.

If you're worried, call the midwife unit at your delivery hospital. They can advise you what to do if baby is quiet. X

Coldsleeves it's such a worry isn't it. I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and i feel like baby is very active some days and very quiet others. So i wouldn't really say i feel a pattern yet either, apart from if i sit down after dinner in the evening that's usually when he/she is most active.

28 weeks. Before that the baby is so small they can turn away from you and hide. Of course if you’re ever worried you should call your local maternity assessment unit though.

I had my 25 week midwife appointment yesterday and she told me that baby movements are still erratic at the moment and to monitor it from 28 weeks.
