Hi

I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and for the last couple of days or so I’ve started feeling an intense ache down below. It feels as if it’s almost bruised, and the pain is more to one side?

I’ve consulted dr google Hmm (always a good idea right?!) but can’t find anything described really as an achy feeling.

It came on in the middle of the night too, I just woke up one night with this aching/bruised feeling. I’ve checked in the mirror for varicose veins etc and my partner has had a look but we can’t seem to see anything different.

Anyone else had this?

It's SPD. I've had it since starting 3rd trimester. I asked my midwife as SPD is talked more about in terms of hips etc, but she said it's common. Really uncomfortable too! Particularly when getting in / out of bed I find!
Obviously worth checking with your midwife, as this is just my experience

I'm 26 weeks my vagina feels permanently bruised. The entire area and bones either side. It's an awful feeling. I take occasional paracetamol if it gets really bad. Going to get on my birthing hall soon. I did with my first from around this time- checked it with my midwife who said it was fine to do it so early it just exercises the pelvis and opens it up (I had a great first birth). So hoping it'll make me a bit more comfortable once I get started.

I've had this for a few weeks now and I have put it down to lightning crotch/ligament pain...

Is it not a varicose vein? I think they're quite common late on.

It could be a varicose vein? I had one and my god it ached so much. It was just on one side, worse when I was crouching down/cleaning etc. Felt bruised.Maybe ask your midwife to check if she can see a varicose vein next time you go.

Oh sorry just seen you have checked for varicose veins! Sometimes they aren't obvious so could still be.

Doubtful it’s SPD. I had that in my last pregnancy and my entire pelvis felt like it was about to snap, I couldn’t even walk up the stairs or put shoes on.

Sounds like the baby is dropping, it’s normal to feel pressure dragging like pains- you have a big head sitting above your groin!
