What on earth is this?! 41 weeks (photo sorry)

Sorry for the tmi photo but freaking out slightly and would love an opinion on what this is. I'm supposed to be induced on Friday as am currently just over 41 weeks along but went to the bathroom just now and have THIS on my pad! When I wiped there was a little mucus but not much so I don't know if this is the start of my show or not? I thought it was supposed to be red or yellow/clear though? Why is this a weird brown colour (and not that mucusy)?? Has anyone come across this themselves? Am reluctant to waste triage's time with stupid questions but just want to know if this is normal...!!

FrazzyAndFrumpled · 10/10/2018 12:31

Ooh how exciting! How are you now, op?

Momma22 · 10/10/2018 12:52

It could be your show? A friend of mine told me she had something similar when going into labour with her DD, she said she just had some brown stuff in her pants, not really bloody, she thought it was her show. When she got to the hospital and she was examined etc, it turned out it was meconium! Her DD was fine.

Don't want to worry you and I'm sure it's probably nothing to worry about but I'd ring the midwife up and maybe ask what she thinks at least. I have no personal experience of this, I was induced with my DD and never recall having a show? So I'm not 100% sure what a show is supposed to look like, all I know is that my friend had something similar to you, and it turned out to be meconium. Maybe you should get it checked out, but like I say, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.

@ Momma.. might be a good idea to RTFT!

Gobletoffire · 10/10/2018 12:55

I’m lurking waiting for the lovely announcement!

sexnotgender · 10/10/2018 12:56

Hope you’re ok OP and have a beautiful baby soon.

MaryBoBary · 10/10/2018 13:02

I just got goosebumps when I saw your post this morning - good luck OP! This is so exciting!

My best friend is currently st the hospital waiting to go for her c section so I’m already in new baby mode!

afloat · 10/10/2018 13:12

Hope all is going well!! I had a similar show over the weekend but still waiting for things to kick off Angry

Really hope you avoid induction!

beincki · 10/10/2018 13:32

This looks exactly like my show! Mine appeared at 8.30am, was in early labour by lunchtime and DD was born at 6.30am the next day! How exciting! Good luck!!

surreygirl1987 · 10/10/2018 14:02

Thanks everyone! Just been to my midwife appointment (don't drive when you're in labour... it was a bad idea!) and she says I'm 3cm dilated, fully effaced and the baby's head is really far down... so it looks like this is it! She gave me a sweep and that really ramped up the contractions to every couple of minutes and much more powerful so I had a bath which seems to have calmed things down somewhat... guess it's just a waiting game now! Husband's at work still but local so when I think it's time to head to hospital I'll call him home. Thanks for all the support and luck!! 🤞

Oh and @Momma22 (and for the benefit of anyone else reading with a similar question to my 'what on earth is this?' one) it was without a doubt my show. Has lots more over the past 24 hours, and much more gloopy!

Oooh exciting! Wishing you lots of luck.

Trampire · 10/10/2018 14:10

Good luck OP. My second labour went very quickly after I had a sweep to move things along! It was by far the best labour I had. Very positive.

Sending you good progression vibes.
