Dual passports British and German

I am British and living in Germany. My husband is German and both daughters were born here, therefore they have German passports. With Brexit coming up should I get British passports for my daughters too? Are they entitled to dual citizenship? Any advice and a point in the right direction will be much appreciated!

Why do you need them to have the British passport when the German one is just as/is stronger compared to the british ?
Are you thinking of moving back to the UK eventually?
I am German, my husband is British. We live in UK. I know my son will get the british passport and i could apply for the German one too. But for myself, I would never change it to the British (no offence - love the country - but simply do not see the point?)

Yes they should be dual nationals and entitled to British passports. I’m British living in Germany and DH is also an expat. It was really easy to apply for UK passports - I did it all via the post and they came through in about 6 weeks for both children (admittedly pre-Brexit so probably takes longer now). With all of the uncertainty Brexit will bring I would definitely get them a second passport.

My Dh is British, I have a different European passport. Both my DC born in UK. My DS asked me to arrange dual nationality for him as he is planning to work on mainland Europe after university and is worried about what will happen after Brexit. He now has a British and another European nationality.

At the moment you can have dual nationality with other eu countries. It is still not clear whether dual nationality with a German and a British passport will still be possible after brexit, so probably best to apply before

Thanks for your comments - I've decided to apply for British passports- we want to keep their options open for the future, whatever it may bring!

I am American but my daughter and husband are British. I recently became a dual citizen to make sure I had the same Nationality as my daughter 'just in case'. I would always suggest having the same as your kids if possible. Either you get German or they have British.
