is it normal to have such a high round bump so early?

I am 25 weeks today and my bump starts under my boobs and reaches its widest point in the middle and then comes in again. Most people I've met at my stage have a more pear shaped bump ie flatter at the top and round nearer the bottom of their abdomen. I am worried that I won't be able to breathe if it gets any higher as isn't it supposed to keep rising until 36 weeks? Is this normal?

I have always had high bumps, it looks as though I have literally swallowed a basket ball and its stuck in the middle!

My bump was extremely high and only dropped as the baby engaged. I'm fairly short though.

I am a short arse only 5ft1! I know, I am obsessing over nothing but haven't seen a midwife since 16 weeks (and don't see one till the 27thJune) and today someone commented that it was very high so I am now quite conscious of it!

oops meant to say 18 weeks. High, massive, and no brain, clearly!

seamonster · 13/06/2007 19:35

I'm 5ft4, so not short. I don't show from behind. However my stomach muscles always split now and I have to exercise them back together after birth before trying to exercise them down again.

seamonster · 13/06/2007 19:37

Sorry, should have said not very short.

laksa · 13/06/2007 20:53

I feel like humpty dumpty! Seamonster, what exercises do you do and how do you know that they split, don't all pregnant womens stomach muscles end up doing the same thing by the end? My brain has also turned to mush
