How do I explain this to gp or midwife? Appt today

For the past few weeks I’ve been getting a weird sensation. My arms and legs ache when I stand up as if I’ve been running for hours - like when you get cramp almost? Now I’ve started getting it in my belly/across my bump. It’s the feeling you get when you’ve run and need to stop for a few minutes because your legs are ‘burning’? It does go off and isn’t there constantly but I’m a bit worried about it and need to try and explain to my gp today as I’m going for a bp check. My other muscles hurt too. But obviously I’m most worried about it being across my belly. Anyone had this? Anyone know how I can explain how I feel to a doctor please?

Sounds like similar symptoms to a lactic acid burn from exercise . Your muscle really burns after exertion. Obviously I'm not a doc and even if I was you should explain to the one you are seeing what you have told us here. Read clearly to me.

Is it not just your skin stretching? Sounds similar to what I experienced during pregnancy.

Redrosebelle · 09/10/2018 08:05

Yes that’s how it feels! Like the burn you get from excercising. I feel silly trying to tell the doctor though. It definitely isn’t my skin stretching it feels deep inside.

As a side could anaemia be causing this if I don’t have enough oxygen to my muscles? I was quite anaemic at my last check and the midwife forgot to check again 😳 I’m not due to see her for another week. Not sure whether I should be pushing for more to be done.

Good luck with your appointment. I would explain what you have told us. Also mention your concerns about anaemia and why you are concerned.

Redrosebelle · 09/10/2018 09:09

Thank you. I feel really stupid and worried they’re going to think I’m paranoid. I know I have to mention it, but I am getting myself pretty worked up over what they’re going to think Sad

I was going to say, that sounds like anaemia. Get your haemoglobin, ferritin and B12 checked.

SoyDora · 09/10/2018 09:13

They’re not going to think anything! Why would they think you’re paranoid? It’s exactly what they’re there for, to listen to your concerns and either reassure you or investigate further. Are you generally suffering from anxiety?

Redrosebelle · 09/10/2018 09:18

I’ll ask them to check those. Soydora not generallly, but the last few weeks I’ve been more teary and worrying over things that would never normally bother me. I also had a really really easy first pregnancy and never needed any extra appointments whereas this time around I’ve had SPD, a small bleed, and quite bad anaemia. I think things are just getting on top of me more. X

Google Dr Sarah Myhill and lactic acid build up.

I would be surprised if your go even knows about it.

unicornchaser · 09/10/2018 10:43

I've been getting this for a week or so now! Even just 5 mins walking and I get the lactic acid ache after. I'm getting really bad trapped nerve shooting pains through my hips and I think PGP now so I just put it all down to this.....

Interested to hear what your doc said about it though......

madamdarkin · 09/10/2018 14:58

@Redrosebelle let us know what dr said?

I've had this with each pregnancy from before a BFP even, it's my first symptom!

That and severe morning sickness which goes away around 15 weeks.

Only six weeks now and the muscle pain fatigue is real!!

Redrosebelle · 10/10/2018 11:49

The dr was really nice and helpful but panicked when I told her I’d had flashing lights and blind spots in my eyes the previous day. I’d put it down to low bp but actually my bp is ok, 120 over something, so has referred me to a tia clinic and eye infirmary today. The midwife is supposed to be doing a blood form for me to get my hb checked whilst I’m at the hospital too. So I’m no closer to having any answer and I really do feel dreadful today. I’m absolutely exhausted and so, so faint. Sad
