Hi guys
This is my first thread on here so please be nice!
So this may sound ridiculously stupid but I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby and a health visitor rang today to tell me they would be sending a letter out soon to arrange an appointment or something? Is this normal? I've never heard of a HV coming out during pregnancy, only after and my usual midwife hasn't really gone through any of the process with me so I'm confused. Can anyone explain what I'm missing please?

Normal, I don't remember the dates, but a hv came a while before dd was born just as a hi and a quick low down on where does baby plan to sleep and a handout of leaflets for bf and sids and stuff. Then they left and I didn't hear anything until the midwives transferred care two weeks after dd was born

Totally normal. You don't have to see them but it's just a chance to meet and give you some info and check you don't have any worries.

Thanks for clearing things up, will they be judging my house or just saying hi? as I've been suffering really bad with my hips recently and struggling to do some housework, constantly feel like my house is a bombsite even though it's not even bad just not how I like it. Will they pick up on things or nothing to worry about in that respect? Also we won't be getting the cot bed until Christmas time as a gift, so if they visit before then will they be annoyed we haven't yet got one or be understandable? Sorry again for the questions I'm just new to everything. Never even had my own home until 3 weeks ago!

If you feel more comfortable doing so, then ask to see them at their office.
