12 week scan nerves

Hello I have my 12 week scan shortly (at 13 weeks). I've had my Harmony and that's all ok but am suddenly very nervous and anxious about the scan and other possible issues and heartbeat etc. Suppose just looking for reassurance really. My husband can't attend as can't get it off work so I'm on my own and a bag of nerves! :(

Hi OP. I felt exactly the same as you before my 12 week scan. I’d had little symptoms and nearly convinced myself I wasn’t even pregnant! But all was fine. The chances are, you will be too. Is there another family member or friend you could take along for a hand to hold? X

Hi @Gobletoffire thanks so much for replying, it's just me, I haven't told anyone as yet as we lost my mum a few months ago very suddenly and I have been scared to get anyone else's hopes up in case of another loss, so I am on my own for this one. It's very nerve wracking.

Hugs to you, OP. Sorry to hear about your mum. I am quite sure though that you will be fine. I wanted to be excited to see baby on the screen but couldn’t let myself because of how scared I was that something would be wrong. You’re not alone in how you’re feeling, but statistically at this stage the odds are that baby is fine. Please let me know how you get on x

Thank you @Gobletoffire will do :) x

Hand hold ... ❣️ good luck and enjoy seeing your baby!

Thank you both, I had the scan, baby was in a difficult position, looked like he was sitting down so quite scrunched up. Also refused to budge despite me jumping up and down, walking and doing twists and turns to try and move him. She had to do internal one but managed to check what she needed to she said and she said he looks fine. Still nervous because of how long it took to get it all sorted but hopefully all will continue to be ok.

My baby was awkward at our 12 week scan too! He would NOT get into position. Our photo of him is a photo of a blob.

I’m now at 30 weeks and have learnt that he loves being head down, but is perfectly healthy (despite me being sent for a sugary drink and a walk at most scans!)

I’m sure your little bean is perfect, just an awkward sod like mine ;)

Glad to hear that the scan went ok x

Haha thank you @Stephisaur yes she said he is stubborn! Glad to hear yours where all ok after similar experience! I drank loads of water and my bladder was still not full so I don't think that helped! Hopefully he will behave next time :) x

I think your partner should be allowed time off work for some antenatal appointments - maybe something to look into if you’re nervous for any others - I know I am worrying about my 20 weeks and them doing all the checks etc. Glad your wee baby is fine - they don’t always behave themselves at the scans!

Thank you @MissMini it's because we haven't told anyone yet, his work don't know as we wanted to make sure the scan was ok. He will be able to come to next one :)
And I know I have a very stubborn one! Looked like he was almost sitting up, midwife laughed at him. I wasn't finding it as funny as wanted him to be checked! Got there in the end, albeit another internal!
