I’ve been booked in to be induced on my due date due to gestational diabetes, but really don’t want to be induced if I can help it!
I know you can’t usually have a S&S until 40 weeks, but does anyone know if I would be able to have one earlier due to my inducement date? Thanks!

I had one done at 37+2 by a consultant, I also had gestational diabetes. Two days later I started to lose my plug, the day after that my waters went. I still ended up being induced 24 hours later though, 12 hours earlier than planned, as nothing was happening.

Ahh brilliant, thanks! I will call and ask if that’s an option for me! I’d rather avoid induction if possible, so anything has to be worth a try!

I had one at 36 weeks. Had a scan which showed I needed an induction the following day so they did it on the off chance it might start naturally. I was kept in from that point though, not sure if that makes a difference.

I believe they might offer you one early because of the GD. I didn't have any medical condition but suffered PND with DS1 and they offered me a sweep at 39 weeks as I was very anxious in the last weeks. Sadly, my cervix was unfavourable and stayed high even after 3 sweeps! So I ended up with EMCS after an induction. The sweep worked for me with DS1 at 41 weeks. I hope it works for you too xx

I was booked for induction at 39+6 due in part to GD. Consultant suggested a sweep at 39 weeks. It didn't work but she was happy to try. It probably still helped the induction along - baby arrived 12 hours after propess in the end (second baby). Definitely worth asking.

I didn't have a sweep but would definitely ask for one next time. I was induced at 39 weeks but it took 2 days in hospital to get to 1cm and then my daughter wasn't born until about 30 hrs later and I was two different drips the whole time. Good luck. Hope a sweep works for you.

Thanks, definitely going to ask for one at my next appointment! Baby was measuring slightly under expected this week, so I have another growth scan booked for 38 weeks, as long as all is ok at that, I’m hoping they will do a sweep at 39 weeks!
