Sorry if there is a more useful please to post this. Has anyone got any advice regarding first clothes sizes. I've picked up 0-3months which says up to 12lb 4 and then there's "first size* which is up to 9lb 4 so I've put them both down and walked away confused. Is the "first size" necessary and if so how quickly will baby grow out of them and should I be buying many?

I was 6lbs 2oz at birth, both my DD’s were over 8lbs!

Basically there is no answer 😂

A few people have asked me for gifts for us and I think I'll say 0-3 and myself by a few first size

We have a shedload of 0-3 which we bought and were given - I didn't really clock that that wasn't the same as being suitable for newborns to start with. At the moment in newborn/up to 7.5lbs we have three plain vests and 3 plain white babygros, plus 2 patterned ones. We'll take those to hospital with some spare bigger sizes I think. I was only 6lbs 6oz but I think it's unlikely mine will be under 7lbs.

Wow thank you for all the responses (especially @Baby160P which made me chuckle), didn't expect that many. I think I'm trying to be more prepared than humanly possible although we do have an ASDA and Tesco's five minutes away and I'm signed up for Prime I think I'm just trying to plan for the least possible stress whilst also trying to avoid buying anything unnecessarily. I'm due January 2nd so trying to avoid venturing outside or trying to order things over the festive mayhem period but I think a couple packs of each size and providing my washing machine doesn't pack in at the most inconvenient time (I'll jinx it now watch) then we should be all good. We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl, so I'm all for plain white at the moment which is probably for the best as I'll just be dissapointed when they don't fit for long x
