Burning feeling at top of bump

Hi everyone I'm 25 weeks pregnant and the skin at the top of my bump feels sore and almost as if I've got sunburn on that area. It feels as if it's stretched thin but doesn't look red. It's just so sensitive. I've been using a moisturising oil on it which seems to ease it a bit and I think it gets a bit worse after eating. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes I had this! I think it started around 26 weeks for me. It went away eventually I think, presumably once the skin had got used to being stretched. I can’t remember having it right at the end of my pregnancy and DS is only 4 weeks old so it must have stopped at some point.

Also, DS was breech until 32 weeks and I do remember it being most sore where his head was. I don’t think it automatically improves when he turned though so it may just have been a coincidence.

I started getting this a couple of weeks ago, I’m 38 weeks now so probably started around 36. I mentioned it to the midwife and she said it’s the muscles stretching/tearing as baby’s got bigger. It’s worse on the right side of my bump and she said that’s the side baby is always lying on which is why it’s hurting there cos it’s got all his weight pulling down but it’s nothing to worry about.
The only thing I’ve found helps is standing up or leaning back a bit when you’re sat down so you’re not hunched over on the bump.
Hopefully you find something that helps ease it off for you because I know how frustrating it can get and you’ve got a lot longer than me to go!
