Brown bleeding early pregnancy

Hi, has anyone experienced brown bleeding during early pregnancy that turned out to be normal? I am 6 weeks and for the past few hours have had warery brown blood when I wipe. I'm booked in to have an early scan tomorrow. Just a bit worried as I have had previous miscarriages.

Brown blood tends to be old blood so could be your body flushing it all out or implantation. Chances are it's nothing to worry about & you have your scan tomorrow to reassure you. Go for a bath & try to relax as best you can Smile

I had that, it's not nice and quiet scary. But my baby was perfectly fine and is 19 now

I had this and remember being very upset. They were really kind to me at the EPU and obviously I can’t guarantee anything for you but brown blood is old blood. I’m 40 weeks now. Good luck OP.

Thank you for the replies x

I'm currently 17+5 and had this happen twice in this pregnancy early on.
Like you, I'd had previous losses and thought it was game over but baby is currently having a little wiggle letting me know he's there.

Please let us know how you get on tomorrow lovely xx

I had a scan today after I mentioned it to my diabetic specialist. They could see the gestational sac which measured correct for 6 weeks but no yolk sac or baby. I'm having my hcg checked every few days and another scan in a fortnight. They have said I may have miscarried or am ectopic. I just have to wait it out :(

So hard to have to wait. Thinking of you.

It could be that you're not as far on as you initially thought, you might have ovulated later. Was it a normal ultrasound or a vaginal one if you don't mind me asking?

ppwonar · 02/10/2018 21:09

I'm in almost same position as you, except I think I'm 9 weeks and have been spotting almost every day since 4 weeks and every day for the last 3. I had 2 scans last week, measured 6 weeks but only gestational sac and no fetal pole or heartbeat. My HCG levels rose approx 20% in 48 hours so they were concerned about ectopic but I've had the all clear. My spotting has always been dark brown or on a couple of occasions dark red, and reasonably light. I got pregnant immediately after stopping the pill so they have questioned my dates but suspect they are probably about right. Just another 10 days to wait for next scan...our bodies are complex beasts!

Santa is a vaginal scan at early stages - nothing to be seen in abdominal. I was dreading it as hate smears etc but it was fine.

Sarah821 · 02/10/2018 21:17

I had a vaginal scan. I too caught after coming off the pill so no period in between. I based it purely on when I ovulated and then had what I suspected was implantation bleeding. It could be possible that my dates are off slightly.

6 weeks at my first scan would take me to 3 days or so before I ovulated. Not sure if that would tie in or not?

RedWineAllMine · 03/10/2018 00:46

Again people need to stop saying or thinking that brown blood doesn't have the same significance as red. I had a light brown blood bleed/discharge once that didn't fill a pantyliner and that turned out to be a missed miscarriage.
Any colour bleeding needs looking into OP.
Thinking of you.
