I can’t even believe im querying whether I’m in labour after what happened me last night but I’m so confused! Had Braxton Hicks all day but from around 7pm on I had proper contractions getting worse as time went on about 3 minutes apart lasting a minute each. Midwives were happy I was managing at home but I decided to go in around 3am to get checked as the pains were getting worse. I was convinced this is it. Also lost my plug throughout the evening. As soon as I got in the car they started getting less frequent and since then have still been coming but with much less intensity and frequency. Midwife said I was 1cm and cervix starting to change since last exam but absolutely not enough reason to be managed In hospital so went home.I’m so tired and frustrated!!

You poor thing. It does sound like you're in early labour and it's very frustrating when it stops and starts like this but hopefully it'll move on up through the day. If you're worried at any point that it's becoming unmanageable then go in and get checked.

I agree with pp - you are probably in very early labour. When you go into true labour, nothing on earth will slow the contractions or stop them. Good luck - you're on your way.

Thanks guys - it is incredibly frustrating. Honestly the pains were coming so thick and fast all evening I thought I was gonna go quick! They did get really intense just before I left for he hospital and it scared me to stay at home so that’s why I went in as it’s my first baby and I haven’t got a clue! I see community midwife today so if I don’t have anything major by this afternoon might she do another sweep to get things going quicker? Can’t bear the thought of another night like that!

I had 3 nights of that with DD before a sweep put me in established labour. It was awful!! Saying that my labour was pretty quick once established.
I would definitely recommend a sweep if you can get one!

Oh gosh the thought of 3 nights of it! It’s awful - since I’ve got out of bed things seem to be gearing up again more pains more frequently again. Really hope this is over soon!

Keep moving around as much as you can as it's supposed to help. Do you have a birthing ball? Rolling on that can help bring the baby down and get things going a bit more. I'd also recommend getting in the bath (plain water no bubbles etc) to help with any pain.

You're on your way now!
