Confused! Clarity please?

I got my BFP yesterday :)!!

I’m trying to figure out how many weeks along I am. I heard somewhere that your weeks start from the first day of your previous period. Mine was 2nd September 2018.., that should make me in my 5th week.

Why do a few pregnancy apps set me as 4 weeks? Pregnancy+ has me on day 29 week 4, Glow nurture is 4 weeks + 1 day and BabyCentre has me at 4 weeks + 2days....

Yet the app flow that I used to track my periods and ovulation is saying week 5, day 2...

So confused!

Also my clear blue said 2-3 weeks (gestational) which i believe means a total of 4-5 weeks.

Any help will be great!!

If your last period started on the 2nd Sept, that was 4 weeks and 1 day ago, so you are 4+1 weeks pregnant. Although you're in your 5th week, you won't be 5 weeks pregnant until you've completed 5th week, i.e. this coming Saturday.

But they're all saying the same thing. You are 4 weeks and 2 days so are in the fifth week of pregnancy.

I also got confused with this and still find it really annoying as there is no consistency as different apps say different things. I signed up to the NCT email updates and each week you get an email telling you what is happening in your pregnancy. I put the dates in and it correctly said I was 6 weeks pregnant. However then the email I got said ‘welcome to your 6th week of pregnancy’ and I was like ?? If I am 6 weeks pregnant then I’ve already completed my 6th week and now I’m in my 7th! I am now 23+1 and yesterday got an email saying this is what will happen in your 23rd week of pregnancy. Should be 24th!

(Unrelated point that also annoya me - People also write this in birthday cards, eg. on my 21st birthday they write ‘hope your 21st year is amazing!’ And I’m like arrrhgghh it’s my 22nd year!!! But thank you for the card and I’m sorry I’m such a ridiculous pedant)

Don't worry, I'm pedantic like that too! I also find that the app I use and NCT are out by one day which I've never understood but also not worried about.

I can see why OP is confused with this wording though: " week 5, day 2..."

It's true that being 4+2 is the same as the sentence above, but it is worded in a confusing way since many people won't think of themselves as 'in week 5' when they are 4 weeks +x pregnant.
