Chances of something being wrong at 12 week scan

Hi,

I have my 12 week scan in 2 weeks and starting to worry. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks earlier this year and so naturally this is making me worry for the worst at my scan as have read a lot about missed miscarriages ect. I have also had some pink/brown discharge at around 5 weeks and 8 weeks which isn't helping! But haven't gone to the docs or anything about it as pretty sure it is just cervical erosion which I have been diagnosed with and don't really want to go back to the EPU as last time I went there due to light bleeding I had the proper miscarriage the following day ....

I also have a cervical erosion so know how you feel about that bit. Just to warn you, I have been told by all docs that it will get worse in pregnancy! However I do think you should get checked out for any bleeding, especially now they probably won't have to do an internal scan if you are 10 weeks. I was told to go in for any bleeding at all.

In terms of something being wrong, if you have got this far then your chances are probably very good but of course there is always a small chance that things may not go to plan. However I would say that sites like MN make it seem like MMCs are very common however I think it is just because there is a higher proportion of people with them writing about stuff like this on here. In actual fact they are relatively rar,e I did look up the stats but I can't recall exact numbers.

Good luck, wishing you all the best x

You can pay for a private scan? That’s what I’m doing this time because I spent so much of the first 12 weeks terrified last time (cried all the way through my 12 week scan)

I suffered a MMC at 12 weeks back in April. It wasn't discovered until my scan.

I fell pregnant again in June and am now 17 weeks. Needless to say I was utterly terrified before my 12 week scan, but everything was fine!

However, I'm now worrying about my 20 week scan. There's no reason to think anything is wrong, but I'm still terrified. So I can totally sympathise. However, this is a totally new pregnancy, so there's no reason why this one won't be successful.

2% chance of a missed miscarriage. Sadly it happened to me twice. I didn’t have any bleeding, only some brown spotting the first time and nothing the second time. No pain either, I just went for the first scan and discovered the heart had stopped. It does happen but it’s fairly rare. Most people will be absolutely fine and I was this time, almost 36 weeks now!

I have mine today, at 13 weeks I've felt ok up to now as I've already had the Harmony but starting to panic about other possible issues. Have to go on my own as DH can't get it off work so feeling quite scared :( x
