Induction queries?

Having my first baby and booked for induction later in the week. Just mentally preparing myself for it and will speak to midwife on Tuesday but just wondered if anyone could offer any answers. I’m feeling so anxious about it.
I have to go in in the morning at half 7 - so can my husband stay with me all day? He doesn’t have to leave? If I’m not in active labour by night time does he need to go home? Do they normally start you off on an open ward with other patients? How long do they give to see if the pessary works? So scared!!

It depends on your hospital as to their policy on significant others being able to stay. The same with the ward/delivery. At our local hospital it’s LRDP, so everything in one room and other halves can stay 24/7 if they want to.

With the induction, I was induced on a Tuesday and didn’t have my waters broken until the Thursday and DD was born Friday morning. If your body isn’t ready then it can take a while. Conversely it could be really quick. You’ll just never know until you start the process.

Based on my experience of being induced, I went in around 8am I think as my waters had broken in the night but labour hadn't started (so may be a bit different??) ...

Husband stayed all day and we had our own little room - he stayed during the night too but nowhere for him to sleep apart from a chair or the floor!! I naturally went into labour at around midnight though.

I had 2 pessary attempts and neither worked, I think they allow around 4 hours but I may have that wrong as was a while ago now.

Your midwife should be able to answer all your questions- good luck!!
