I’m 24 weeks and just seen it says on the front they are the only record and I need to take them with me.

Don’t laugh but if I go 10 miles on a bus for lunch, to be back home 3ish hours later, do I actually take my notes with me?

Ideally yes. But realistically it doesn't happen.

I don't take mine anywhere. I would lose them and it has a lot of information in there for my baby.

MummyInHeel · 30/09/2018 17:05

If home isnt en route to hospital take them. Not a silly question at all, it seems a bit over the top but if you feel a little unwell or need to pop in to get checked you'll be glad you did.

Mine just stay at home. I don't see the point in carrying them round. Maybe from 36 weeks on I will.

I wouldn’t unless you have a particularly high risk or complicated pregnancy; I’d take them if you go any distance from home such as away for the weekend

Mine have lived in the car since I was 24 weeks ish, as was advised by a friend who is a midwife.

If anything goes wrong and I'm at home, the car is in front of the garage and I/DH/paramedics can get them easily. If I'm at work, the car is in the car park and I've told my boss that my notes are there in case of emergency.

It also means that if I need to leave work for an antenatal appointment I don't need to remember to pick them up in the madness that is a morning, or spend an extra 20 minutes driving to the hospital via home to get them.

I would advise you to take clear photos on your phone and make sure you always update your pictures with any new information, just in case you don’t have them and urgently need to go to the hospital and don’t have time to get your notes or if you forgot to take them with you.

Mine live in my car now. I do t often go anywhere without my car, so notes are usually with me.

I guess it would depend if there’s anyone near home who could grab them and bring them to hospital if there was an issue?

WinkysTeatowel · 30/09/2018 18:33

After advice on a previous thread I have taken photos of mine and just switch out the photos when I see someone (2nd baby so not often!)

NewNameDueToMyIdiocy · 30/09/2018 18:38

Mine live in the car too. If I didn't have a car then they'd live in my bag. It's no bother to take them with you IMO.

RedStef1983 · 30/09/2018 18:47

Luckily for me, I like a big handbag, so I always carry mine.

Would be nice if they made them half the size though- maybe A5

ER1992 · 30/09/2018 18:59

I also leave mine in the car so if I'm out they are there. If I have an appointment they are there. And I also won't forget them when we go to hospital when Labour starts because knowing my luck that would be the one thing id leave behind
