Weekly doppler and growth scans

Hello,
I am 31 weeks with my first. I have had a couple of extra scans due to gestational diabetes. At 28 weeks baby was estimated at 2lbs 11oz, then at 30 weeks 3lbs 1oz. I saw the consultant who was concerned that growth had tailed off. I am now having to go every week for a doppler and growth scan (the next one being wednesday). Initially I was just glad that they are monitoring me & baby but the more I think about it the more I am getting worried. I have never heard of someone having scans every week and think they must have big concerns to do so? The consultant was lovely and reassuring but now I am wondering if she played her concerns down, she just said 'we will know more at the next scan'. She really stressed the importance of going straight in for any reduced movements, I was already well aware of this but I am now getting obsessed about movements.
I don't really know what I am looking for but has anyone been in a similar position of so many scans but then went on to carry to term with a healthy baby? Confused
I should add that although they said growth had tailed off, amniotoc fluid was fine and the doppler scan showed that currently blood flow and plecenta are ok. The sensible side of me knows that growth scans are not overally accurate but the other part of me is just..... argggghhhh about everything!!
Sorry for the rambling on Smile

I had this from 30 weeks with all my pregnancies. They've all been

Sideofthelake · 30/09/2018 12:53

I’m in a similar position!
Baby is under 5th percentile, I go every Monday so I have a scan one Monday for growth and next week it’s a cord/Doppler? Check.
I find it frustrating cause I have no idea what’s going on really. I think they’re happy atm cause she’s growing along the line even though she’s under 5th still. I’m having a section so I keep asking when they’ll do it and no one can give me an answer ! I’m 32 weeks now.

Hello! I don't have pregnancy experience however I do work in Radiology, and I book ladies in for weekly dopplers and growth scans all the time. So much so that I have no slots to put them in!
It's incredibly normal Smile

Thank you, its definitly reassuring to hear its quite normal. I will comtinue to go everyweek if its what is best. Hopefully on Weds he will have grown enough to keep everyone happy. I guess with gestational diabetes we are always told about big babies and was just a little shocked to hear otherwise. I have been diet controlled but need to start insulin this week, they said they wont give metformin when there are growth concerns. I will be happier when we get to 37 weeks

@sjb10 have the discussed a plan with you or is it just week by week?
I’m abit confused by the ‘ get me to 37 week’ comment and ridiculously impatient so really want a section date so I can sort my other little one !

Sjb10 · 30/09/2018 13:26

@Sideofthelake No plan, It's just week by week. Have been told there is no reason right now why I can't have a natural birth but I won't be allowed to go over 40+4 due to the GD. Nothing has been mentioned about 37 weeks, that is just where I would like to get to 😊 at 36 weeks they said they will show me how to harvest colustrum and discuss induction.
