Pain across bum and top of thighs

I’m 34 weeks 3 days today and the last few nights ive slept awful, having to turn in the night constantly due to full ache pains down the hop of my thighs and across my bum. The only time it doesn’t ache as much is when I lay on my back which I can’t do as we arnt supposed to sleep on backs. Could this pain be due to baby engaging and moving further down into my pelvis and or him getting bigger and pushing in my nerves in legs and bum?

Sounds like a sciatic pain to me - baby is pushing on sciatic nerve in your spine. If it’s really bad see your GP or a good chiropractor.

I'm only 26 weeks and have had this pain for at least the past 4 weeks. Feels like cramp and pain deep into the hip. I end up tossing and turning all night and it's driving me mad. Do you feel fine in the day because I do and am certain it's not sciatic pain. The midwife said it's most likely ligaments loosening. I've ended up sleeping on top of two duvets and with tonnes of pillows to try and give my hips some cushioning.

@dancingbee yes I’ve had spd earlier on in pregnancy and saw a physio but this pain is deep in mu butt muscle mainly my right side and the tops of my legs. I struggle to get up from bed in the morning and nite and constantly having to turn due to pain and dull ache 😖 I dont get it as much when walking round just when I sleep and when I’ve been sat for too long and get up. I’m hoping it eases off soon as I don’t want to suffer with that for the last 5 weeks 😞 I defo think baby has moved down and pushing on something.

I have had this for several weeks and had back pains too. Missed work on Friday because it was so bad an my sleep is terrible - literally no where is comfortable due to butt ache and an ache down my leg.

Saw a physio on Thursday who said it's my piriformis muscle (google pigeon is syndrome) basically hormones make ligaments relax and then putting too much work through piriformis muscle. You need physio to strength the supporting muscles. Midwife was useless and told me spd - but physio says it's not. So I'm hopeful if it's just muscular I can improve it as only 23 weeks currently!!

Piriformis Syndrome* (no pigeons at all!!)
