Tears & separation in amniotic sac - any advice?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else has had this...

I’m 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. Had some bleeding (on & off) for 4 days last week. Had my 1st scan on Thursday and they found 2 internal bleeds.

  1. Was from a pocket of my placenta not attaching itself to the womb properly down near my cervix and a small pool of blood had built up between the placenta and the womb. They didn’t seem too worried about this and said it will most likely fix itself.
  1. The other bleed covered quite a substantial area up at the top of my womb. The sonographer who scanned me went and got her boss, who then went and got her boss, so I was slightly worried 😐 in the end they told me the membranes of the amniotic sac have tears in them and have separated? Again they said just to take it easy and hopefully this will fix itself. If I have any further bleeding I’ve to go straight to the hospital, not to even phone, just to go straight there and they will scan me.

Has anyone heard of or had this? I never had anything like this with my last 2 pregnancies. Other than what’s going on internally the pregnancy has been perfect, not even a single bit of nausea, fatigue...nothing.

I go to the gym regularly and I totally forgot to ask if it was ok to continue Confused it’s made me paranoid about going though, don’t know whether to just phone and ask if it’s ok to continue exercising 😕

I can't advise on this unfortunately but wanted to offer a handhold. Personally I wouldn't continue with the gym if they've told you to take it easy. Definitely ask them if it's something you really enjoy but if it's risky I'd avoid it.

Good luck Thanks

Thanks beccii

I’m thinking the same tbh. I was going to suspend my membership for at least a month then speak to my midwife at my next appointment, see what she says.

There seems to be very limited info online about tearing of sac membranes. I should have asked the consultant at the scan but was a bit shocked at the time that all this was going on inside me and it didn’t even come into my head.
