Talking to my bump

Hi everyone , I’m due at the beginning of February, this is a long awaited baby (20 years) it turns out I’m going to be a single mum with no support from his father but I’m starting to accept this. Anyway what I want to know is how much do you talk to your bump ? I talk to mine all the time I tell him what we are having for dinner etc - does anyone else do this or am I finally cracking up 🤣

I don’t talk to it because I don’t have a bump yet 😂 maybe when I have one it’ll be different

Liverbird77 · 28/09/2018 19:02

I do... All the time. It is nice. I like to think bump can hear me now at almost 27 weeks, but I've been doing it since I found out

spugzbunny · 28/09/2018 19:04

I talked to mine a lot! And sang her songs! She still likes the same songs now later on!

eandoauntie · 28/09/2018 19:06

Oh that’s good to know - I actually started talking to him before the bump appeared , funnily enough spugz I was singing the fishy song earlier and said I wonder if you’ll like this one as it was always a firm favourite of my niece.

Err never! But my 4 and 3 year olds sing to it.

ladycarlotta · 28/09/2018 21:30

Sometimes when I feel it wiggling, I make a bit of conversation - 'what are you up to in there?' etc. I could probably see myself talking about dinner to it as my bump gets bigger, but not really as a concerted thing. It must hear my voice all the time as it is.

I talk to her when she moves sometimes! Usually just to say 'hello!'. I've also started reading to her: I read something that said when they are born, babies showed a preference for stories they had been read repeatedly while in utero, so I've been reading Guess How Much I Love you to her.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/09/2018 21:46

Well I talked to my bump. And then I talked to my none verbal baby. And now I talk to my non verbal 3 yo. And when I'm not with him I find myself still talking out loud!! Beware haha

I talked to my bump before it was a bump Grin and DS loved it when certain songs came on and he loves them now he's here

Stephisaur · 28/09/2018 22:07

I make DH laugh when I say “come on Thomas, we’re off to the kitchen” 😂 he’s not due for another 3 months but I like him to know his name 😂

When he wriggles I will ask him what he’s doing in there and such. I quite enjoy chatting to my bump 😂

posieperkinandpootle · 28/09/2018 22:37

I used to read aloud to my first bump - Harry Potter- she is now a huge HP nerdGrin

Me and my partner have always talken to my bump since we found out we were expecting. I’m 38 weeks now and when my partner comes home form work my bump instinctively responds to his voice and starts wiggling and moving. It’s been such a good bonding experience for all three of us and we find bump most happy when all of us are all together and he’s being spoken too or having music to listen to.

laurenluke2017 · 29/09/2018 09:32

Hi i'm 37+3 i talk to my bump all the time, so does my DH. He responds as he loves hearing our voices. Right little monkey but I won't lie I am happy the end is near so me and DH can meet him! X

surreygirl1987 · 29/09/2018 17:58

Haha no I don't do that and I'm 39+6! I'm sure I'll talk to him when he's born though Grin

niknac1 · 29/09/2018 18:03

I also used to sing to my bump whilst in the bath, I also used to splash water and get rewarded by kicks where I splashed. The songs I sung calmed my baby when they went to sleep. Can’t do any harm to try to amuse your little one in your tummy.

Shine your phone torch against your belly. Might only work when you're further along but my bump kicked enough to see on the outside at 19 weeks because I shone a light in there 😂
