PLEASE can someone just tell me what pram to buy?!

I cannot bear to read any more online reviews about them. I just need recommendations please!

I'm looking for a pram that:

  • Can be used from birth (probably with carrycot which I'm planning on using for daytime naps too)
  • Has a base that folds up small-ish - needs to be able to fit into a cupboard for storage, and I'm going to have to carry it up and down three front door steps every time I leave the house...
  • Is good for fairly tall parents - I'm just under 6 ft and DH is just over
  • Can cope with city use/public transport/buses as well as country walks (not massively off road, but gravel tracks, grass paths etc)
  • Ideally can be used with Joie/maxi-cosi adapters as my SIL has given us their Joie carseat so would like to clip in and out
  • Doesn't require me to take out a second mortgage - really don't want to spend too much if at all possible

I was looking at the Cosatto Giggle 2 but I'm worried it won't be very good off road.

Help please!

Also the Giggle 2 doesn't have an extendable handle although you can tip it up and down which seems ok.

Avoid the giggle. City mini gt and carry cot, folds tiny, suitable till over 3 years, tough as boots. My hubs is 6ft5 and he loves it. Ive had 10 prams, by far the best. Maxi cosi compatible x

NightOwlHoney · 28/09/2018 18:03

Another vote for city mini. I have 5 DC and have had bazillions of prams/pushchairs and this is my favourite.

SuperVeggie · 28/09/2018 18:11

Thanks both, @crackedvase what makes you say to avoid the giggle?

PS. someone on a local FB site is selling a baby jogger city select with bassinet for £150, is that the same or bigger than the mini GT? It looks quite big

Although just seen it's the twin, but she says it can be used as single?

As with the Quinny buzz, and similar, I find them too cumbersome and bockety once child hits around a year old. The seat being perched on connecters is not as smooth and stable when an older baby is in it, plus they are harder to recline etc. Just my view Smile

Celebelly · 28/09/2018 18:16

We are getting the City Mini GT. Ticks all our boxes!

Scout1774 · 28/09/2018 18:20

I have got the Uppababy Vista. Not cheap BUT
Bassinet fine for sleeping
Has extendable handle so good for tall people
Is all-terrain so will go off road
Is adaptable for Maxi-Cosi, don't know about others but I think it goes with most car seats.

Goostacean · 28/09/2018 18:24

Uppababy Cruz!!!

Fab carrycot that can be used from birth and is safe for overnight sleeping.

Extendable handle.

Not sure about storage size, but the base can stand alone, folded up.

All-terrain, for sure, and uses maxicosi car seat adapters.

The only issue would be cost, from your list- but I didn’t look around for 2nd hand, I reckon youd be able to find a bargain?!

Celebelly · 28/09/2018 18:26

On a similar note, I was going to get the carrycot with the mini GT but turns out our lie-flat car seat is compatible with it. Is there any need for a carrycot if we can use the lie-flat car seat? Or best to have carrycot?

Paie · 28/09/2018 18:26

I have the Mothercare journey travel system. Light enough, easy to fold small, and the cheapest on the market atm!
Previously had the britax b agile which was nearly identical

EyeRolls · 28/09/2018 18:28

Out n About. Honestly the sturdiest, best value for your money and brilliant steering. Plus you can run with it. Also holds additional toddlers on the top/ compatible with buggy board and loved by my 6ft 2 partner.

It's lasted 3 kids so far...

CAAKE · 28/09/2018 18:35

Babyjogger city mini here too! Can't go wrong.

Meganc559 · 28/09/2018 18:40

Bugaboo chameleon!

BlueBug45 · 28/09/2018 18:48

Giggle 2 isn't for any off road use. Cosatto make that clear on their website.

Oh and from watching my OH and neighbours there is a method to bumping prams/push chairs up and down stairs instead of carrying them, as you may have to get a heavy sleeping toddler up/down them.

Tutulafromage · 28/09/2018 18:49

Mothercare journey is great...I am currently using it and it is great value for money!

RubertRoo · 28/09/2018 18:54

I would steer clear from Bugaboo - I am 6ft and they were so low down! The handles might come up high but reaching into the carrycot and I felt like a giant leaning over.
The only pram I felt was tall enough for me was the Silver cross ones. Wave or Pioneer.

badgeronabicycle · 28/09/2018 18:55

Baby Jogger City Mini. My fifth and final pushchair!
It has a large basket so great for shopping
It has a massive spf 50 hood
DH is 6'6 and finds it high enough
The seat is massive. My 6 year old can still fit in it
It reclines flat so is suitable from birth
You can get a carry cot if you want
You can get adapters for most car seats
It's not too bad off road (we have 4 wheeler)
It folds in half by just pulling a handle in the middle of the seat
It's well made, long lasting so second hand ones are still a good buy
Its not too expensive

Can't think of any bad points. I've also had a Bugaboo Bee, an Uppa Baby Vista, a Maclaren Techno and a Micralite supalite fastfold. City mini was the best by a country mile.
Good luck!

Deffo not the giggle. I’m 5’9 and it was only just the right height for me. It also doesn’t fold small.

Rarfy · 28/09/2018 19:02

Have a look at venicci. I dont have one but know people who have had them and swears by them. Good price too.

Weve gone for mee go milano with sport chasis. Quite big not sure how would fair on public transport but great suspension and lovely carrycot for daytime naps.

CaptainCorrigan · 28/09/2018 19:11

I have the cosatto wow, I picked it as I'm 5' 11 and was the only one that I felt comfortable with my height and it's not to low to sort baby out if I need to. It has an extendable handle. It is brilliant on mud, cobbles, sand, gravel - it's been everywhere! It folds pretty flat and is fairly compact when up.

SuperVeggie · 28/09/2018 19:12

Ah thanks everyone! Will look at all these. I had considered uppababy as I’d read they’re good for tall people, but they seem to be really pricey.

I seen the baby jogger 3 wheeler in our local baby shop (not sure if it's city, elite, etc) recently. Modern looking with grey fabrics, looked so nice & high up so good for taller parents or those that just want the baby nearer them. Good value for money too. I have an out n about and it's good off road but bulky & poor basket space for shopping. It does fold as one piece which would be easy for public transport tho.

NinaMarieP · 28/09/2018 19:16

Mamas and papas armadillo flip xt.

I had looked at the city mini/city jogger etc but I'm glad I didn't get one only because their carrycot bit is so much smaller and my DS outgrew his at 5m as it was.
