I cannot bear to read any more online reviews about them. I just need recommendations please!

I'm looking for a pram that:

  • Can be used from birth (probably with carrycot which I'm planning on using for daytime naps too)
  • Has a base that folds up small-ish - needs to be able to fit into a cupboard for storage, and I'm going to have to carry it up and down three front door steps every time I leave the house...
  • Is good for fairly tall parents - I'm just under 6 ft and DH is just over
  • Can cope with city use/public transport/buses as well as country walks (not massively off road, but gravel tracks, grass paths etc)
  • Ideally can be used with Joie/maxi-cosi adapters as my SIL has given us their Joie carseat so would like to clip in and out
  • Doesn't require me to take out a second mortgage - really don't want to spend too much if at all possible

I was looking at the Cosatto Giggle 2 but I'm worried it won't be very good off road.

Help please!

KINDERKRAFT MOOV.

Its beautifil, elegant and unbelievably cheap reduced from £500 to £200.

Also would tick all your needs.

StripyDeckchair · 29/09/2018 16:01

Uppababy Cruz. One of the very best decisions we made. We live in a city but I have taken it semi-off road on coastal walks/national trust places and it's been fine. It won't cope with really rough terrain/lots of mulchy leaves but you won't find anything light that will. Carry cot is ace. Light, easy to manoeuvre.

SuperVeggie · 29/09/2018 18:30

Wow that kinderkraft is cheap. I'm struggling to find many reviews though, and I'd like to be able to try it out first but can't find anything local stockists....

Could you use a carrier for off road?
The Ergo 360 is what I use but have a Caboo for under 6 months/newborn. It’s a lot better especially in the muddy months.

I know for ones that survive off road it seems to be Quinny buzzes, Phil & ted & out n about. Mainly 3 wheelers with the bigger wheels.

BertieBotts · 29/09/2018 19:43

I think the Kinderkraft is a bit suspect personally, I think they are cheaply made, they usually come up on sites like Groupon heavily "discounted" and they are never reviewed by big name sites. I don't think they work with Maxi Cosi adaptors either.

Look at some of the newer Cybex models. I think these are really great. We were looking at the Balios S, but the Eezy S Twist may work better for you. The Balios S is only slightly slimmer than the Joie Chrome when folded.

We've ended up with a second hand Mutsy Evo which I like but the harness buckle is really stiff, and when folded it's bigger than I first realised.

You can't really combine off road and compact, because off road needs big wheels and preferably a suspension system, and these add bulk.

When DS1 was tiny I had a Maxi Cosi Loola Up, and I really liked the way it folded - it's different to most from-birth pushchair folds. They have a Loola 3 now which might be worth a look.

BertieBotts · 29/09/2018 19:47

It's been withdrawn as they were never popular but their outlet centre has them for a steal. I don't know why they weren't popular (the previous model), I utterly loved mine.

Ive got the Giggle 2 and Baby Jogger City Mini GT. The ONLY benefit ive found with the Giggle 2 is that is can be parent facing, Ive not actually used the Baby jogger fpr ages so im not sure how he'd like facing forwards now (he was very little last time) but other than that its the best of the 2 by far

Omgoap · 29/09/2018 20:04

Small, good for city and off road is Mountain Buggy Swift. You can get one all new for about 300. I would really recommend. One hand small fold and light

2nd vote for the Armadillo Flip XT

Di11y · 29/09/2018 20:49

If you get the right sling you will be able to comfortably sling for a long time. DD is 14mo and I still prefer the sling over buggy for short journeys, ones with buses or ones with difficult terrain. And i have an uppababy which I love.

LongDiscoClara · 29/09/2018 21:10

Baby jogger GT. I've had three kids and over 12 prams(addict) and the baby jogger was the one I stopped with. It ticked all the boxes and was the best praM BY FAR!
I used mine for 4 years and then gave it to my sister who is still using it.
She spent 1000+ on a travel system, I did try and tell her but she didn't believe me. She used it for 4 months then got fed up with unfolding it and folding it to put it in the car.

Hour Litetrax 4

SendYouUpInFlames · 29/09/2018 21:23

I had a kinderKraft moov and it isn't cheaply made at all. Its a beautiful looking pram and feels very expensive.

Its also very smooth and easy to push. It suprised me. I honestly thought for the price, it wouldn't be much. But it lasted me from birth to 3 years, and was sold on for half the bought price. It was still new looking.

Lots of reveiws on amazon :-) i have some photos of mine also if you'd like me to send you them.

yikesanotherbooboo · 29/09/2018 21:59

You poor thing... it is a minefield! I would prioritise your requirements ie 1. Price2. Storage 3 carrycot etc. Sling can work for ages walking or a back carrier which is what we had once babies were big enough then you wouldn't have the off road requirement. Getting it in to your car or foldability for buses is hugely interesting mpprtant. Think about how far and often you will be using it for eg if your tall DP is walking daily for miles doing the shopping then height is an issue , if tall DP is only going to be pottering by the riverbank or in the shops once or twice a week for an hour or so then height is less of a problem. Similarly , size of basket, parent facing etc it is really common for parents to buy a second cheap and cheerful lightweight buggy for slinging in the boot, trips to town etc often before the baby has reached a year. They aren't great for rough terrain but often end up being the main mode of transport so bear that in mind.

Treaclepie19 · 29/09/2018 23:25

We really loved our Armadillo flip xt and will be using it again all being well!

SuperVeggie · 03/10/2018 20:40

Thanks everyone for your help. Went back to John Lewis and mother care with DH and we tried out loads again including the cosattos, the mothercare own brand ones (journey, journey edit, orb), the uppababy Cruz and vista, baby jogger city and a few others.

We decided in the end that space, height, ease of storage and durability were most important and the uppababy felt much better quality than the others and also folds up very small and stands upright. We also managed to find an amazing deal for the Cruz on trendybaby.co.uk which I was a bit sceptical about initially but it arrived today and all seems good. Really pleased with it and think we have made the right choice, my DH and I are sharing parental leave and it was one of the few that was comfy for him to push too.

For off-road we will use the sling for the first few months and then when baby is too heavy to lug around easily we will look for a second hand jogger that we can keep in the shed when not needed :-)

Yay!!! I’m genuinely delighted, love my Cruz! May you have many happy, easy walks with it Smile

SparkyBlue · 04/10/2018 07:17

You will love the uppababy. They are well worth the money. I have a Vista and a glux and they have both taken a right battering and are still fine.

StripyDeckchair · 04/10/2018 11:28

Brilliant! I predict that you will love it. Good luck with everything.
