What does a baby need to wear on a hot hospital ward?

I had a Winter babe last time so that was easy. Just wondered what/ how much a newborn should wear in hospital/ early days at home? I don't have much more than the standard vests, long sleeve sleepsuits and cardi's at the moment. Should I get some of those short sleeved/legged sleepsuits?

I had one in April and she wore vest and babygrow with a sheet/blanket to be swaddled in.

New babies aren't that great at keeping warm so even if it feels hot to you they still need a bit of wrapping up. long sleeved sleep suit, a blanket and lots of cuddles should be fine though we didn't bother with a vest as they were just too darn fiddly at first

I would say use a long sleeved cotton sleepsuit, not one of those furry type ones. Pack a bodysuits too and the midwife will advise you what to dress the baby in once it's born. I think my midwife dressed mine as I wasn't really in a fit state!

take short sleeved bodysuits and long sleeved sleepsuits (and a little hat if you have one)

even though i had ds1 on a hot may day, photos show him bundled up in a hosp blanket in his cot

the midwives will guide you

long sleeves, definately. You'll be fine with what you already have.

oh yes check all are 100& cotton

My DS was born in the middle of the HOT HOT heatwave last summer and the MW (once we were home) told us a vest was sufficient - but it was 36 degrees!

However, in the hospital, the MW was showing DH how to change his nappy and she picked his clothes out of my bag - she got a short-sleeve vest out - then a few hours later came and told us off because he would be too cold in that

My ds was a winter babe and spent his 1st week in hospital mostly we just dressed him in a long sleeved vest! The hospital wards were so warm and sure what you have will be fine!!!!
