Missed period, negative test

Hi, I'm only 17 and really worried I usually have regular periods - came here looking for some support. I usually am very safe, but you can never be 100%. My period is 2 weeks late so I took a test today and it has one line in the control section, meaning negative I think. ( Really hard trying to figure that out on my own for the first time :( lol ) I'm on a lot of medication including prednisolone (steroids) and amoxicillin (antibiotics). I used to be on the pill, microgynon but I have been taking it sort of here and there when I remember this previous month due to other reasons and me being all over the place, not a good idea I know.
Is the test wrong or could my late period have a more sinister reason?

Have you been using any contraception apart from taking the pill here and there which can muck up your cycle. I woukd do another test then consider a more reliable form of contraception if you're not pregnant. What is it you're worried about.

If you've been sporadic with taking your pill it could have affected your hormones and knocked your cycle out of whack.

Generally by 2 weeks late you'd expect to see at least a faint positive. I'd recommend you book a GP appointment to discuss what may be happening if not pregnancy. It's probably also worth looking at a different form of contraception that isn't dependent on you remembering as we've all been there in forgetting a pill - we have busy lives!

In the meantime if your period doesn't arrive in a couple of days I'd recommend taking another test. First Response are well known to be highly accurate and sensitive. Take it first thing in the morning for an accurate result.

Yeah been using condoms but there not 100% either :( I was thinking about other forms of contraception such as the coil though. I will do another test when I get paid as well, I'm just worried I'm ill or something

Hi all, been to gp she did another test and it was again negative. My gp thinks its my recent anxiety worsening causing the lack of period and said if I don't have another period in the next month then to go back for hormone tests

I've definitely experienced a late period due to anxiety so it can 100% be a factor! Glad to hear you're getting sorted x
