Nifty Test

I'm off for the Nifty scan and blood test later today. I'm 10.5 weeks pregnant. Aged 44. Got pregnant the first time we tried so beating all odds so far.

I am terrified the results will come back with bad news. I can't rely on the NHS NT scan results as my age alone will send the odds off the scale.

Anyone got any words of wisdom or experience similar to help me stay calm?

Hi.

I'm sorry, I'm not in the same position really but just want to give reassurance on the Nifty test. I had mine in Manchester and it was really good. The scan was very thorough and they measured nuchal translucency and the results were back 7 working days later so quite quick considering they send it abroad.

Best of luck for you xx

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm half excited to see baby but I know the risk are high for my age so also slightly worried too.

I am 41 and had the serenity test. No issues detected. Also, my 20 week scan showed everything to be normal. Please don't worry

Thanks. I'm thinking calm thoughts in between feeling dreadfully sick!

The scan went well and all visual markers are well within parameters so I can relax a little. Baby is growing as expected too. Now waiting on the blood test results in 7 working days.

Hi @oldmother44 I'm 35 (36 when due) and had the NIPT 10 days ago. It was nerve wracking but the chances are very high you will be fine. I actually rang to ask rather than wait (on holiday and it was ruining it as I was so so stressed and) after 4 working days and they where in :) . Are you finding out the gender? Thanks

oldmother44 · 01/10/2018 09:07

Yes. We want to find out the gender only so we can prepare properly and let our 4 (2 mine, 2 my partners) other kids know.

I guess I'm more concerned about there being any issues as I am 44, which is old I guess.

My family member has just had her 4th at 46 and all perfectly healthy if that helps you relax at all @oldmother44 :)

oldmother44 · 09/10/2018 09:37

Just a quick update. The results are back even though a day late which stressed me even more.

So ALL IS OK!!!

And baby is a girl to add to the 2 girls I have and a girl and a boy my partner has too.

It's been the longest 11 days of my life but so worth it to rule out any genetic issues early on rather than finding out much later especially as I'm 44 so that carries enormous things risks alone.

Thanks for everyone's support. X
