Overdue and frustrated- anyone else?

Was due yesterday, had a sweep and midwife says cervix is unfavourable. She could squeeze a fingertip in but didn’t get to do full sweep. Induction is booked which I really really don’t want but at the same time dying to get this baby out.

The texts are annoying me so much!! I know people are asking cos they care but can’t they just assume that my silence means there’s no news!! To think I’ll still be here in over a week is crazy as I just feel I’ll be harassed! I’m starting g to get snappy in my replies and don’t want to come across that way but it’s so annoying when people say ‘aw keep checking my phone’ or ‘can’t wait for some news ’. It’s like - sorry to keep you waiting. I’m the one who’s been pregnant for 9 months and am uncomfortable and dying to meet my baby!!! Sorry for the rant 🙈

Yes!! I'm 40 + 4. Went in for a sweep on Monday but the midwife said there was no point as I've not had any pains or anything that makes it sound like my cervix is favourable, so she didn't have a feel. I wish I had just asked her to do it now as next appointment is Monday.

The messages are also driving me crazy I snapped at one of my friends yesterday which I feel bad for! I think people think that if there's silence it means I'm in labour, but the only other option would be to message them every hour saying 'no baby yet' which seems like it's what they want me to do.
I don't mean to sound ungrateful because my friends are lovely and are just really excited but every time they say 'I'm so excited to meet your baby' it grinds on me.

I just tried using a breast pump to get things kickstarted and now I feel a little sick, not sure if it's related or not
I also have evening primrose oil but have held off taking it because I'm unsure... But thinking just to go ahead and take it now.

Sorry for also ranting on your rant 😂 But glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I hope baby comes soon for you!

Also... I think people don't understand that I'm genuinely anxious to meet my baby, to know that she's ok. All the scans have gone well but I feel like until I see and hold her myself I don't know if she's healthy, and that's what I'm waiting the most for. When people say 'why is your baby taking so long' it just adds to the anxiety that not everything's ok.

I could have written what you wrote! I feel exactly the same about the texts. It’s rubbish as you know they are only being good friends but it is so irritating!! You’re probably best to have the sweep a bit later anyway to be honest as it might be more effective. It’s not the nicest thing and turns out completely unproductive in my case and now feel deflated knowing cervix is still posterior and thick! I’m gonna try and use breast pump a while today, have a clary sage bath and go walking. I’m so fed up and want to avoid induction so much!

I don’t usually suggest ising Facebook to solve problems, but it was handy when I had the same problem.

I found a picture of a raccoon with a massive belly after it ate the contents of a dust bin and posted it to FB on my due date saying “Yes. I’m still pregnant.”

The texts and casual calls “checking in” definitely tailed off after that.

Ha- good idea. I kind of think maybe i only have myself to blame as I let people know my due date but at the same time, I don’t think I would keep texting someone even if it was a good friend. I would just assume no news means no baby! JUst gimme some space, don’t make jokes about waiting ( Cos your idea of waiting is not on par with what I’m going through!). Oh well there’s an end in sight

Really hope things kick off for you soon.

The last few days are just dreadful- I was like a baiting bear with the rage and the discomfort, so it really doesn’t help with people constantly asking for updates.

Why don’t you try some oils to help it along?
