I found out yesterday that I’m just over 5 weeks pregnant. It’s very happy news but we have a 9 month old (and a DC in school), so definitely not planned.

Have I got this? I feel happy and can picture us as a five, but I’m also so scared. I’ve had two miscarriages previously, one of which was a missed miscarriage and pregnancy hasn’t ever treated me wonderfully, definitely no glowing here! And then I keep thinking how will I cope with a 17 month old and a baby full time, then DC before and after school. Am I being silly? Will it all just work itself out?

Any words of advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I felt like this and am now 16 weeks . I only had one DS as well but was 11 months when I found out ! I was a mixture of content , happy and then absolutely shit scared to tell you the truth but I've spoken to lots of people with small gaps who have said it all just works itself out .

I'm a stickler routine anyway but apparently this helps more so with the 2 under 2 Smile xx

Massive congratulations Thanks xx

I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and DD has just turned 9 months. We always wanted two really close together, but I didn't expect to get pregnant on our first month of contraception.

I've spoken to a few mums with small age gaps and they've all said that it can be hard initially to juggle two babies, and organisation is definitely key. But they also said that they're both a lot easier when they're older as they play together and keep each other occupied.

Xx Smile

Congratulations @scuttlemama I come from a family of 8 (my brother, 2 years younger, and I from my mother's first marriage, a brother, 2years younger, and sister, same age as me, from step fathers previous marriage and another brother and sister, 5years younger but 11months apart, from mother & step father currently married) and I wouldn't change our big family for anything. Having siblings so close in age we were all going through similar things at the same time, felt we could confide in one another and this defiantly took pressure off our parents. Your kids will love you for having siblings so close & grow up appreciating each other so much. Good luck x

Thank you all so much for replying, I really appreciate it. It’s amazing supportive strangers on the internet can be!

It all feels a little overwhelming at points but I keep reminding myself people do this all the time and with smaller gaps. I can do this.

My husband said that these years are the busy years whether it be with two or three little ones. And I do love a busy family home, it just feels right for me, very content Smile
