20 week scan - measurements big.

Hi,

I've just had my 20 week scan. I'm actually 21 weeks tomorrow. All anatomy looked normal so I'm obviously delighted about that. However, some of the measurements were on the upper limit. The BPD looks as though it is off the scale! I have to go back at 34 weeks for a growth scan and also to check my placenta isn't still low. She just said 'It isn't a small baby'. This is my third - dd1 was 11 days late and 8lb 6 and dd2 was born on her due date at 7lb 11. I'm worried there's something wrong and I've gone and given myself gestational diabetes from eating too much chocolate in the last 5 weeks or so since feeling better (didn't touch it for first few months!)

I'd so appreciate it if anyone could have a look at the measurements and tell me what they think please. Looks like a big head and a big abdomen to me. My husband has a huge head (although in proportion!) and the same for dd1.

Do these percentiles stay the same or can they change as pregnancy progresses?

Thank you so much!

I have no idea what the measurements mean but I just wanted to try to reassure you. The fact that it says that measurements are compatible with dates sounds like everything is normal to me. If they were worried about GD then I think they would have told you. Do you have to have a GTT?
I hope everything is ok for you. Hopefully somebody can give you more information about the measurements themselves.

Thank you for your reply. She didn't seem concerned about GD and when I expressed concern she just said I could ask the midwife to test my urine if I wanted to.

It's the top one (the head) that worries me - it's off the scale... Confused

I have no clue about measurements too as still to have my scan but I am actually expecting this myself OH was a big baby most of his family were too 😬

Try not to worry, my DS had measurements much more off the chart than that for his abdominal circumference for the whole of my pregnancy, they kept testing me for GD but I didn't have it. He was a big baby 9lbs 10oz at 39+4 but within the centiles. It looks like you have a growth scan for follow up so they will flag then if they have any concerns.
