What do urine tests test for?

When you take urine samples to midwife appointments I know they test for pre-eclampsia but do they test for anything else eg. UTIs?
I have an appointment this week and think I might have a UTI or kidney infection as I have been getting pains where my kidney is most mornings for the past 5 days. The pain seems to disappear during the day.
I did get kidney pains at about 20 weeks but they went away on their own as I think my body sorted it out itself.

My impression is that they test for UTIs, protein and sugar in the urine, so basically infections, gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia.

I'm currently getting treatment for a UTI (I did not have any symptoms) which was picked up by testing the urine samples at a routine appointment.
My understanding is that it's not too uncommon to have UTIs without symptoms during pregnancy.
