Bio oil versus normal moisturiser?

I've been using bio oil since day one of being pregnant six months ago, religiously applying once a day all over. I'm finding though that my skin is drier than when I used just normal moisturiser.
Will I be covered in stretch marks if I give bio oil a break!?

I've been using bio oil and sometimes Lush - Therapy massage bar since hitting the second trimester but tbh I have remembered recently to use it maybe once, twice a week if I'm lucky. From what I recall stretch marks will happen if they are going to happen with or without bio oil or any other moisturizer so i would use something that makes your bump more comfortable, and if bio oil is drying you out, that seems counter productive. Surely stretch marks are more likely to happen is drier, less supple skin (again I'm going to go back to how apparently stretch marks will happen if they're going to either way). I'm currently 26 weeks although look like I'm about to pop and haven't got any on my bump (although I have the odd one around by back strangely enough) so bio oil has done nothing for me I presume. Just use something that makes you feel comfy (and pampered!) X

I covered myself in bio oil and thought I was getting away with until I woke up one morning with loads of stretch marks. It's genetic so no avoiding them if your skin hasn't enough elasticity I'm afraid! Mine were angry red and purple but 5 months post DS they have already dramatically faded to silver!

You'll be covered in stretchmarks if you are meant to be, regardless of what you use. Nothing but genetics stops you from getting them.

If bio oil makes your skin feel dry, then use whatever moisturiser you like.

I used palmers tummy butter with my first DC, didn't get a single stretch mark on my tummy. Although I do have stretch marks on my boobs and thighs from general weight gain/loss, and all of my female relatives are covered in stretch marks from pregnancy (and they used bio oil) so I honestly think if I hadn't have used the tummy butter I would have definitely at least had a few. It's quite thick and sticky, and I know quite a lot of people aren't keen on the scent, but I personally don't mind it, plus it's only around the £4 mark and a little really goes a long way. I'm currently 9 weeks pregnant and using it again, hopefully I'll have another stretch mark free pregnancy 🤞 I'd highly reccomend it! I think burts bees do a similar product if you're not keen on the smell of coco butter, it has some great reviews on the boots website anyway, and it's apparently less thick and sticky than the palmers, slightly more pricey though.

Also, From what I hear bio oil is more effective at fading existing stretch marks as opposed to preventing them
