As the title states.

I'm just 6 weeks & I feel awful. I don't remember feeling this bad with my first & think I should know better second time around.

I've basically spent the past 2 days in bed which is not ideal with a full time job & a 5 year old.

I have vomited twice over the past 2 days but it's the constant feeling of the urge to be sick that I'm struggling with.

Just need a reassuring pat on the back really Sad

Ugh, you poor thing, I remember that feeling all too well and It is truly hideous Flowers If you find anything you remotely think you can eat, do so, and keep up with the water. Remember that although it sucks now, this too shall pass. Congratulations!

I found ready salted crisps helped!

Uncreative · 25/09/2018 07:22

Carbs are your friend. I’m currently living on crisps and toast.

KitchenFloor · 25/09/2018 07:26

I found constant snacking on plain starchy things the only thing that really helped, and with my second small sips of lemonade

Hi thismummyruns, I'm just past 6 weeks and feeling similar. I haven't vomited, but feeling sick all the time and the room is spinning. The journey to / from work is the worst - standing on the train for 45 minutes and everyone is wearing loads of perfume or drinking coffee :-( I was hoping to keep exercising during pregnancy, but I just feel awful, that's gone out the window for now. It's early days though.. Hopefully we're both soon feeling better.

Congratulations to you

Papillon33 · 25/09/2018 07:46

Oh, and I find the only things I want at the moment are crackers and fizzy water squash

Thismummyruns · 25/09/2018 18:23

Thanks all. Have been drinking mango lucozade which has given some relief and flat cola.
Will get some lemonade tomorrow.
Have been living off bread for the past week and cereal so will continue as that is all I can stomach eating.

It all got a bit much after a morning of retching I got a doctors appointment & have been given anti sickness/nausea medication.
I'll try anything!

I ate really bland food such as chicken and new potatoes. That made me feel a little better because there wasn't any strong flavours or smells. You could also have rice. I found it was worse when my stomach was empty so I tried to eat little and often. Salty crisps made me feel better too and digestive biscuits (without chocolate). I also ate a few bites of a biscuit a night in between toilet visits because then my stomach was too empty in the morning.

Nausea completely sucks! I found snacking a lot helped to reduce it a bit but my god it was awful. I found foods with high water content like grapes and berries helped and also apples & peaches and plums! On the flip side carbs - plain crackers plain foods like mashed potatoe / baked potatoes / wholegrain pasta with a bit of margerine / wholegrain toast with margerine or jam helped too. I’ve also had the anti nausea bands on til now - I’m around week 15 now. Still nauseous but no where near as much so 🤞🏾 Orange juice helped me a lot too and ginger tea with fresh ginger. Hope you find something that works for your body soon 🙏🏾

Nausea is the worst!! I much preferred it when I actually vomited because it would make me feel better for the rest of the day. My nausea started from the moment I woke up and ended at about 8 pm each night. I was really struggling by week 7 but then by week 8, it started to ease up and then pretty much cleared up completely. I feel so much better now!!! It won’t last forever!!!
Good luck!! Xxx

I'm having the same awful nausea and retching! I find that sniffing lemons helps, weird as it sounds x

Sparkles1992 · 25/09/2018 20:32

I'm 7+2 and I only feel ok when I'm laying down in bed, the minute I get up in the morning I'm sick and I feel nauseous all day. I can't wait for it to pass it really takes the excitement away. This is my first pregnancy and I'm shocked at how bad the first few weeks have been Sad

Breen86 · 25/09/2018 20:43

Aw I feel you @sparkles1992 I swear men should have to carry every second baby too lol 😂. Last time my sickness ended at 11 weeks. Hang in there xx

Sparkles1992 · 25/09/2018 21:38

Thank you @Breen86 I'd be thrilled if it passes at 11-12 weeks ish! It's so hard going to work with it but I hate to moan about it too. You're definitely right about that, I've told my partner we are having a biggg age gap ! X

Breen86 · 26/09/2018 12:11

@sparkles1992 I know what you mean, it's tough yet it does mean baby is doing well so we are blessed really just might not feel like it. Hope your work isn't too demanding.

Celebelly · 26/09/2018 12:26

I was unprepared for how rotten I would feel in the first trimester. I think I spent two weeks basically just lying in bed looking at the ceiling, I couldn't even read or watch stuff on TV. Luckily (or not) I am self-employed so I could take that time off, but then I ended up horribly behind with work!

I kept a pack of ginger nuts by bed and would have one first thing when I woke up, as well as if I woke up during the night.

Anyway, it's rotten but once I got to about 14 weeks I started to feel much better and now at 20 weeks I feel great, so hang in there!

Snoph76 · 26/09/2018 17:17

Hey im 8 weeks tomorrow and feel your pain! This is my first time and I cannot believe how awful the nausea is 🤢 I feel like I’m on a boat most of the time and any thought of food makes it worse. Sending love 💕

Breen86 · 26/09/2018 18:14

Oh goodness @celebelly sounds like you've had it very tough. Glad you're over it now x
