Combined screening results... can’t help but feel disappointed?...

So we had the screening for Downs Syndrome and our results came back today as low risk 1 in 2139 chance. I know that is a good result but I can’t help but feel worried when comparing to people who have 1 in like 20,000. Our nuchal measurement was 1.3mm so very good & im only 24.... my result is good and positive but so many people seem to have a higher second number. Any reassurance out there? Xxx

If you are that worried, get a harmony test.

That means you have a 2138 in 2139 chance that your child doesn’t have Down’s syndrome... with my first 2 I didn’t even get a number, if it was less than a 1:150 chance we were just told it was ‘low risk’. No further info.

I paid £200 to have the Harmony test because I wasn’t satisfied with my 1:32,000 result. I also didn’t feel the nuchal screening was accurate enough to rely on. For me a Downs diagnosis would have led to abortion so I was keen to ensure the result was as accurate as possible.
