Hi all,

Can someone please help with this, just had my first scan and was told that no baby could be seen.

Getting a little freaked out! What does this mean????

It can means your dates are wrong, can also mean the pregnancy is not viable. Have they said to come back for another scan at a later date? Have you had any bleeding or signs that your body might be accepting the pregnancy isn’t growing as it should?

Hi,

Thank you for replying.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure of my dates, as had been tracking them. I have to go back in 12 days, which will be absolute torture.

I have had no bleeding, a little period pain, and tiny bit of reddish/brown discharge, but from looking online, this can be normal enough,

I don't really feel pregnant, except for some dizziness and sore boobs, but my symptoms really come and go.

How certain of your dates are you?

As PP said, either your dates are wrong or sadly the pregnancy isn't viable. At eight weeks the baby should be visible with a heartbeat.

However, if you have irregular periods or aren't sure when you might have conceived, you could be much earlier than you thought.

When did you get a positive test?

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/09/2018 10:23

Is it a blighted ovum by any chance?

Eatsleepworkrepeat · 24/09/2018 10:23

So sorry, I had the same and it wasn't good news. With mine they told me to take the scan pic to the gp and get an appointment with the epu, who confirmed a missed miscarriage.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 24/09/2018 10:25

I thought I was certain of my dates and the same thing happened to me. They only saw a sac. I only had to wait a week for my second scan though and all was well. From that point on it was the easiest pregnancy I ever had.

kittyz · 24/09/2018 10:31

Thanks guys.

I'm probably being overly pessimistic, but I have a feeling that it might not be good news - hope I'm wrong though.

Is it normal to still feel pregnancy symptoms (although weak enough) even though the pregnancy is not viable? That seems so cruel!

@Eatsleepworkrepeat, I'm sorry to hear that :-(

@IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere, how far along were you when you got the scan?

Thanks - it was a while ago now and I got my rainbow baby not long after. Yes with a missed miscarriage you carry on getting symptoms as your body doesn't know the baby isn't growing. Totally unfair!

Hi all.

Just an update to this thread. Unfortunately this ended in miscarriage for me. Had a D and C to remove remains from the womb. Very upsetting. :-(

Surprised by how emotional I am, crying at the drop of a hat.

So sorry to hear this, OP. Sending you hugs. X
